Take him! If you actually want to improve, gain confidence in your writing, and be inspired by a really cool man, TAKE DR. MARTIN'S CLASS. I have not had a class as good as his and I wished I cherished it more. He really is invested in student's success but you need to be up for the challenge. Favorite teacher at Duquesne thus far.

He is a genius. In my class we just had 2 papers due for credit, and most of the time had a 1.5 page reflection paper due the following class. Doenst really talk about whatever youre supposed to be learning. He is a pretty much a philosopher. He gives extra credit. He is a little boring, but he is a pretty easy grader, and an interesting guy.

Nice guy, but focuses too much on his own interests. Has a hard time remembering individuals- expect to tell him your major ten or twelve times. Spends a lot of time trying to sell you on his own schemes, feels like a salesman more than a teacher at times.

He is a really interesting guy. Will learn alot. will watch movies. sucked writing the two papers but he grades really easy and there are oppurtunities for extra credit. Overall great guy and very interesting and fun

You don't use the book... so don't bother buying it. However, he teaches you a lot! Not necessarily about english but about other things in life. His classes are not boring because they are usually just based on discussions. He grades pretty fairly. Only had to write four papers. Easy A.

WORTHLESS. worst class I have ever had. He doesn't want papers to have facts in them- he wants you to write 5 pages about your opinion without personal voice. You will learn nothing, I promise. If you're plagued with him don't waste money buying the book- you'll never use it. Also, his "office hours" are in Off Ramp- JOKE!?!

Sign up for his class and then don't waste your time attending. He talks about his hobbies instead of english. He pays no attention to TIME- claims he has a magnetic force that makes him break watch batteries, doesn't believe in cell phones- runs overtime every class. Grades decently, but not easy. Doesn't bother learning your name. No homework.

I took his creative lit class (gods and monsters section). He was a pretty cool guy, knew lots of random things and class wasn't too bad. You kinda did have to go though if you wanted an A cause we had reading responses almost each class. Only had to write 2 papers and he'd give you a LOT of help with them, even in class. Not a bad class.

well...it's a fun class if you're interested in HP Lovecraft, because according to Martin, he's god, lol. he's a really good teacher and he definitely is willing to help when you need it. gets carried away with stories sometimes, but that's what makes his class fun.

This is the easiest freshman english course you could ever take! I took AP in high school, and this course was a joke! Sean is so easy, and he's a really great guy. Make sure you get in his class for Core Thinking and Writing!
