Comment:
Dr. Lee could be a great teacher but he holds his students to almost unreal standards. Im a computer science student and Ive had 2 classes on discrete mathematics. One class was average difficulty, very reasonable work and material. Dr. Lees class was monumentally more difficult for no reason other then to boost his own ego it seemed.

There is a thing as too smart. Lee was an okay teacher but he couldnt teach. He was too smart for the class to understand him and he didnt know how to explain himself or the process. Dont bother asking questions because youll just end up more confused.

Doesn't explain how to actually work a problem, will just show how to get from point A to point B. If you skip a class, you miss too much to catch up on. He did give us free textbook links and didn't require a textbook, you only have to pay $25 for the homework website.

Dr. Lee is a great guy. He can be hard to understand, and the course material is difficult, but an A or a B is doable in his class. But you will have to work for that grade. Homework is the best way to keep your grade the best it can be. As long as you keep calm in his class, the material shouldn't be that bad.

Comment:
Although being a 100-level course, the test problems involve advanced concepts that are not adequately explained in the minimal course material. No textbook selected for the course, although free (but severely outdated) reference books were provided. The only lecture materials provided are essentially blog posts on Dr. Lee's personal website.

For an online calculus class all he provides us with is written lecture notes and videos of him doing problems that do not have sound. There are no extra resources or explanations of the problems he is doing in the video. It is very hard to follow along by just reading his lecture notes. There is no textbook to go along with this course.

Class was online so contact was only through email. I requested a meeting and was denied. I originally just thought he was blunt, but believe otherwise now. He kept spelling my name wrong. Last contact came on a weekend where he said he had "better things to do." Seems arrogant and self-serving.

Took this class in high school, so teaching myself wasn't that bad. He talks about random stuff for the first 20 minutes of class and spend the remainder "teaching." He makes everything more complicated that it really is and when it comes to tests it's a hit or miss. One test might be really easy and the next will be almost impossible.

Spends about 20 of class time rambling about space and other topics not related to math. If you ask him a question through email he will get smart with you, expects you to be able to do complex math by hand. Does not allow graphing calculators. Beware He loves to put Trigonometric functions on the test and homework **Take Tian for all maths **

This class could have been much easier than it was. He speeds through examples in class. He's often rude. Thick accent sometimes difficult to understand. He gets off topic often. He gives homework after simply introducing a section saying you'll understand it better next class. BUT he does give drop grades. Don't slack on HW and quizzes.

He's a great guy but hard to understand sometimes, which makes lectures difficult. He will give you lots of homework, but it is online so you can have as many attempts as you need. Only way you don't pass the class is if you don't do anything. Homework is the best way to get the best grade you can.

Dr. Lee really loves math, but he is not the best instructor. He spends at least 30-45 minutes per class rambling about random topics, which typically have no relation to math. His course was easy because 3/4 of the exams were take-home exams. His accent is thick but not to a point where he cannot be understood.

Dr. Lee is a nice guy. I enjoy his stories about crazy mathematicians and how aliens sent the ten commandments. He does not, however, teach very well, and neglects to show all the steps and does not explain the steps he shows. I would love to have coffee with him but I will try no to take him again.

Teacher has a great style, and is very funny. "They say you can't kill two birds with one shot, but why not if you use an M-16?" Expect similar corny jokes. Very lively teaching style. Gives lots of examples of applications.

Survey of Partial Differential Equations. The book recommended was a casual read, and the various solution spaces explored had extremely interesting properties. Only take this course if you have a high interest in differential equations or physics.
