Comment:

Paige talks very slowly. He takes frequent pauses while speaking to look around the room. Tests are multiple choice but difficult regardless. Do not underestimate this class. Even though it is a basic class, Prof. Paige manages to make it as difficult as a 300 level. He also makes jokes that are very awkward, I'm sorry to say.

Excited to take this, but he made it painful. Speaks in monotone. IF you stay awake, lectures don't prepare you much. Over half the class failed our first two exams. Essay questions are subjective. He teaches his 101 class like it's a 300 class and grades accordingly. Condescending toward questions, angered by theological debate- even in private.

This teacher harshly criticized me for wanting to go on a missions trip in the middle of his online course. I asked if I would be able get work done early for the week I would be gone and he replied that I cannot pick and choose which weeks to participate. I find him difficult to get along with and would recommend taking this class with a dif prof

Dr. Paige is a fabulous teacher. He can be a little dry, but he is passionate about what he teaches. I was challenged by the material and felt like I learned something significant in almost every class. If you are looking to be challenged and really dig deep in the word, Dr. Paige is the right choice.

I took 21 credits with him. He's a tough prof. and he knows his stuff. He should be teaching higher level stuff. He is very interested in the course material, but he does have difficulty with mornings, people who don't care, and heretics.

Dr. Paige is one of the coolest professors of all time! He is really serious about the Bible and learned so much from him. I felt like every class period was like hearing a really good sermon. Take a class from him and listen to what he has to say, it's good stuff!!

Comment:

One of if not THE best professors at Houghton. Extremely intelligent, cares a lot for his students. He is hard to get to know, but if you make an effort in his class he will reward you. Demands a lot, but challenges you both mentally and spiritually. Truly amazing!

Do not take this class!!! It was sooo boring listening to him lecture for an hour and a half! I didn't know it was possible to make Jesus Christ boring! But Dr. Paige accomplished it! Don't get me wrong, he's a nice man but this was one of the worst classes in my four years of college. I don't appreciate professors who swear they don't like to give bad grades, yet even after seeing you trying and re-doing papers that didn't have clear directions in the first place, still give you a horrible grade!

I had Dr. Paige over 5 years ago and I still think of his class today. Made me want to minor in Bible. He seemed to be much more conservative than me, b.u.t. he did not shoot me down when I had controversial questions. A true sign of intelligence is tolerance for others. Thanks.
