He's a professor that excellently explains the content well and guides you through deriving & simplifying problems. However he doesn't do a lot of application practice or exam feedback so homework is still important. His exams are easy if you study hard and he cares about his students a lot. Highly recommend taking a summer course with him!

Comment:

I took this class because of the reviews on this site, actually. Dr Worchesky is a nice guy and he definitely cares, but he should not be teaching introductory level courses. Lectures were disorganized and rarely had examples like ones on homework--which there is, by the way, a rather lot of. Be prepared to spend all your time on this class.

His lecture consists of him deriving formulas.I feel like time would be better spent if he just did application problems like the ones on masteringphysics (which can be hard). Attendance is necessary for clickers which you only get points for correct answers. He is a kind person and very approachable Exams are easier than masteringphysics hw tho

I wish Dr Worchesky could teach every single class I have to take until I finish school. He is really that good. I have never had a teacher who cared that much about the students and about making them learn in the most convenient and understandable way possible, and I took the class over the summer. Exam are simple and extremely fair

Comment:

Very good physics professor. The first two introductory physics courses at UMBC can be pretty hard at times and a lot of work, but he is very helpful and you should learn a lot. Go to office hours if you ever need to. Unfortunately sometimes expects you to pick up math fast from courses you haven't taken yet and aren't prerequisites, like DiffEq.

Comment:

Expect clickers also expect to basically teach yourself physics. Lecture is pointless beyond clicker points, he'll show you a large amount of math for 50 minutes straight and you won't be able to apply any of it to an actual test due to lack of time. He's a pretty nice guy but he doesn't know how to reach introductory courses.

He's pretty funny. Tends to try to teach you the origin of most physic equations how they work. Its up to you to teach yourself how to apply them through homework and studying. Ask him questions about the homework during his office hours; he'll tend to lead you towards the right answer.

Material and examples are explained well. He does spend a lot of time proving equations, but I appreciate that. Exams are fair and similar to examples in class. Online and written homeworks were both difficult and long. Expect clicker questions. Tries to entertain and crack jokes, so it's not dull. Encourages you to seek help. Overall good.

This class will be a lot of work between WebAssign, written HW, lab, and 4 exams. Some of the HW problems are killer. The exams are fair, and covered by the HW. His lectures are kind of worthless, but you ought to go because of the graded clicker questions. Worchesky is a fun professor, and will help you out if you need it. I'd recommend him.

Dr. Worchesky is by far one of the best professors I've had! Very passionate about what he teaches, jokes a lot and does his best to get the students interested in the subject as well! Takes time to help. A lot of HW, written and online, but tests are very similar to written HW. Come to class, do the HW, and read the text book and you'll be fine!

A lot of assignments including clicker questions, written homework, electronic (web assign)..., they are POUNDED on you. He tends too joke too much, but when he teaches it is very helpful . Don't come late to class, cause he gives out clicker questions at the beginning and they pile up. As do the writtenelectronic. So get ready to learn!
