Comment:
Dr. Mason is a good professor overall and his class can be fun. However, his grading is crazy. He will literally take off 0.1 points if your answer does not match with his perfectly. No wiggle room. Nice guy and generally makes class enjoyable, but can get kind of snarky with students at times when answering questions.

Even though he was a funny guy, it was the most difficult class. He goes way too fast with the slides, doesn't dumb anything down enough for the class to understand, and assumes we know everything about economics. We had to write a paper for the class and he accused me of plagiarism. I'm amazed I even passed with an A. Don't recommend.

Can be straight up mean to students he does not like, making it clear through snarky comments in class. Extremely wordy on tests, if your definition does not match his word-for-word then he will take points off. He assumes everyone is an economics major and that they are already familiar with a lot of terms he uses.

Really nice guy, helpful, you will have to study. Not an easy class but not a real hard class. Puts everything on power point slides to print off and study from.

Very knowledgeable, but his lectures are boring. He planned to give pop quizzes at the beginning of the semester, but never did. I found it hard to pay attention, so I could have skipped days & still gotten an A. The night before each test, I went through all the powerpoints (available online,) re-took notes, and studied those, which worked well.

Macroeconomics wasn't a hard class. Even though he posts the notes online, definitely go to class to get a better understanding. There's homework, but the tests are worth huge amounts of points and they're challenging. Definitely read and outline the chapters too. It'll help when it's time to review for the exams. Final is also accumulative.

Really energetic and fun! keeps things interesting, but expects you to work hard for your grade. Take notes during class, part of the time he follows a powerpoint, but sometimes he says things that aren't even in the book. I would take again.

He uses a lot of analogies to try and make it clear, but Macro Economics is a tough topic anyway. He has some quizzes that are kind of pointless, but its a couple main tests that are your grade.

Hard class. Gives good examples in class, but tests and homework were very difficult. Very funky grading system too. It took a lot of work and studying to get a B in the class. Might be easier for an Econ major though.

Very easy to understand. Gives a lot of examples related to the topic and helps you prepare for the test. I never read the book ,but I always went to class. Came out with a B in the class and felt that he graded easy. Recommend him for any econ course.

I loved this class. It is challenging, but Prof. Mason is very helpful. He is super nice and funny! Make sure you go to all classes! He puts the slides online, but he explains things in great detail in class. This is one class I avoid missing at all costs.Oh and he loves sports! Make sure you are aware that the Giants won the World Series last year!

He favors athletes. If you have questions he is more than willing to help. This class is hard, no question about it. If you like econ you will be fine, if you don't take a differente elective course.

Nice guy, hard class. I was expecting an easy gen ed, what I got was something I needed to really study for. You might want to have a lighter class load if you take him. Notes are scattered and he goes pretty quickly.

I took him for International Econ. The class it self was horrible, but he made it alright. Great sense of humor, but favored athletes like no other it seemed like. STUDY and work for the grade though. He'll take off a tenth of a point if your wrong on something so make sure you do things right!

Great Professor, makes class interesting. Make sure you have a good sense of humor, because he does like to joke around with his students from time to time. Also, prepare to work hard. Don't be fooled by his lightheartedness, he WILL make you work for your grade. Do homework, ask questions, and study. He's very approachable.
