Alright, I took Professor Pandey's Communicating Anthro course in fall 2014. He's such a humble man, wise, and very, very good at what he does. He's truly a respected anthropologist both here in the United States as well as in India. Lot's of interesting readings, lot's of heavy theories. He uses India as an example for everything FYI.

Such a nice guy. Unfortunately his TA, Omari is kind of a condescending meanie. Anyway Pandey knows a lot about the subject he teaches and is really compassionate towards Native American culture. His lectures are incredibly confusing to listen to though since he's kinda all over the place but a sweetie who grades nicely.

He is a brilliant lecturer, but it might take you some time to get used to his accent. Assignments are fair. No matter the subject, he will make it interesting.

The best professor I have ever had. His lectures taught me how to think, break down my perceptions, to the see the world in a new light, especially being aware of the world around me and realizing how much influence I have to make a positive impact on someone's life & aid in some social change. Inspiring, insightful, encourages independent thinking

Heis as wonderful an academic and professor as he is a kind and fair man. Anyone who has a problem with this course simply isn't doing the work. As is the case in any class, do the work, and the grade will reflect. He is an easy grader and enthusiastic to engage with his students. Its not everyday you learn from someone in the House of Lords.

Loki... well, he's a nice and interesting guy, but much of the material he teaches is a bit anachronistic, to say the least. His lectures are all over the place (and mostly about his own life: Pandey 101) and you probably won't learn anything. He'd be cool to hang out with outside of the classroom, but as a professor he leaves something wanting. If

Pandey is a great man. So wise! sometimes his lectures strayed from Native American people, but always in the best way possible. You could learn a thing or two from Pandey. Highly recommend. Helpful, supportive, interesting lectures.

As a freshmen, I was placed into a upper-divison class without me even realizing it. But being in Pandey's class changed the rest of my college life. His passion for what he teaches is admirable. His enthusiasism for teaching made me want to go to class everyday. Even though i wasnt an anthro major, i realized that I learned alot from Prof.Pandey

Lectures were usually interesting/entertaining, but always very very disorganized, often consisted of telling stories of his life experiences (which were impressive, but still made it hard to take notes). He has heavy accent. Midterm/final were doable/based on readings, if ya know which readings tests will focus on and study those, will do fine.

Lectures were completely useless. He rambled on and on about stories and made it very difficult to tell where the important information was. Essay questions were fairly straightforward regurgitation. Readings were mostly filler and very hard to read.

Loki is one of the most caring, knowledgeable professors I've had at UCSC. His accent is hard to understand at first (double-up=develop), but he repeats important information and the things he says are valuable for class and life in general. Do the readings and take advantage of your TA's help. I had the hardest TA, but otherwise it's an easy A.

Interesting readings, Pandey rambles a lot in lecture but can be pretty funny sometimes. Sections are mandatory and really help a lot with learning the information. The class has really good TA's

Intro to Anthropology with Pandey was one of the best classes I have taken at UCSC. It's a class that goes beyond Anthropology, and it transformed my view on many issues. Pandey is a man with experience, knowledge and great stories. It was an honor to be taught by him. Lectures are scattered, but the tests are based mostly on reading. Recommended!

Professor Pandey is a really nice guy, and funny also. He is sometimes hard to understand, and sometimes lectures are pretty boring. I didn't actually go to most lectures and did well in the class, thanks to my awesome TA Christian! But the prof is decent and the subject interesting.

Amazingly NICE teacher. lectures are mostly stories. very interesting and EASY. Have to read books for section, because there's little assignments based on them. Midterm and final are papers that YOU chose what to write. I loved his class! got an A =)
