I had Dr. Johnson 15 years ago in Graduate School. He is a wonderful person and I hate to see the negative comments about him. After about 25 years in Governmental and NFP, I knew at the time I took him that he forgot more than I ever knew. He was a fantastic prof and I appreciated him.

Comment:

Professor Johnson is a VERY fair grader with genuine concern for making sure grades are equitable. Unfortunately, very old school and does not use lecture notes. Problems he gives are usually very long and in depth. Class material is not too hard, just pay attention, read, and stay on top of it. Also, be prepared to teach yourself most of it!

I agree w/ person b/f me that Mr. J smiles after everything he says. Yes,U can teach Urself the material, but attendance is mandatory which it can be difficult@times to sit through the lecture.However, I feel attendance is4a reason Summer is short;he skips around so the info is applied in a direct manner to fit his test question for question.Stray

class is frustrating, but not due to the material. this guy reads off the 'dot cam' and rambles uncontrollably. class is pointless. any idiot could teach themselves the material in a fraction of the time it takes for him to attempt explaining it. he smiles after every word spoken. count it. i got 76 last class. old man needs to stay in retirement.

Interesting, professional, helpful and very detailed. Shared great stories about his career. 2 different tracks for newbies and veteran govt acg students in same class, which understandably contributed to confusion and frustration. He recently retired, I wish I could have taken another class with him.

Dr. Johnson is a nice man...not the best lecturer, though! Tends to ramble on a bit. If you can teach yourself most of the material and pay attention when he is working out problems, you shouldn't have any problem with this course. Attend class. He takes attendance and gives pop quizzes.

Dr. Johnson is very detail oriented. Like he said, the goal for this class is to learn the material. If you follow his course outline, and do the readings along, you will find his lecture's very easy to understand. Plus, he's a such a nice person,he always tried to help students in every way he could.Fair grader A+++ professor!

I personally love accounting. This one class alone has made me swear off governmental accounting. He is by and large the fairest grading teacher you will ever take. Unfortuantely, that is the only good thing I have to say. He has a "chip on his shoulder" every class period. He is very little help outside of class and seems to hold a grudge.

This is the most boring accounting class! Dont go to his office for help beacuse he will make you feel really syupid! Tests are hard, you have to study. He spends all his time talking about what we are going to do and does not teach!

Dr. Johnson is a great teacher. He lays everything out in a class outline that most teachers dont put forth the effortt to do. Keep up with it and the class isn't hard at all. First A I've gotten in Accounting in a long time merely because he puts alot of time into the class and making sure everyone understands what he's teaching.

Spends too much time reviewing class outline and ends up wasting our time; we can read it ourselves. Rambles on for long periods of time about subject matter when he says he only wants to spend a short amount of time on it. However, he's a very fair grader and the reading assignments are concise and not hard to understand. Attendance is crucial.

I feel bad for Mr. Johnson because he is a really nice guy, but unfortunately the material is boring so students take it out on him, Try to show him a little respect, he tries to make it interesting but the stuff is just not.

I was very stressed out the first few classes. He gave an overload of assignments and didn't explain things well. However, I found it easy to score well on his tests - huge curves and an open-book problems portion. It's a boring class, but Dr. J is a nice person who really tries his best to teach. Just don't be overwhelmed & you'll do fine.

This class is not that bad if you KEEP UP with assignments and reading. I thought it was easier than 4001, 3141 and 4401. Boring is an understatement! After leaving class I would go home and watch the golf channel to wake myself up!

Never has the homework answers posted online even though he promises to do so every week. Rambles so much and goes off topic for so long, he never really gets around to teaching anything. It's a shame govt/nonprofit is required for the acctg program because this is the worst class I've taken in this whole program! Horrible!
