Grading criteria was never initially clear. Professor would want you to lead a group discussion and then completely take it over. Used students' work from that class as examples of what not to do. Tried to yell at a classroom full of adults because we did not understand her instructions. Talks in circles the entire semester.

Doctor Wang is very kind and passionate about the TESOL program at EMU. In her Global Englishes course, that is one of the required electives for the TESOL minor, the class is very discussion-based. In the course, you write two big papers. There will be occasional pop quizzes that can be done with a partner. I learned a lot from this course!

Overall an incredibly forgetful teacher, though she does want you to pass, she drops the lowest grades from the quizzes, and for our class, dropped the lower grade from the large paper so we'd get good grades. Tests can be difficult if you don't study. I didn't use the book at all, but I think others did. Sweet, but didn't learn much in her class.

Comment:
Dr. Wang was an immensely demanding instructor, and yet a TERRIBLE communicator. She failed to set expectations or properly explain assignments: we were forced to redo the same project for a month. She didn't grade a single thing until the final weeks of the semester, so grades felt as though they were arbitrarily assigned.

Dr. Wang is a professor that some love and others don't care for. I personally really enjoyed her class and the personal stories she incorporated into the lessons. Her lectures can be difficult to follow which is why it's VERY important to read the designated chapters ahead of time.

Wendy is a great professor. She is there for you and though she is tough, she lets you know what you need to do to succeed. To get through the assignments, be sure to ask her lots of questions and show her your work before it's due to get feedback on things ahead of time. She is always prepared to teach, and she provides students with handouts.

Nice lady and helpful during office hours, but a horrible professor. Inconsistent with everything from syllabus to class time. Changes assignment values without warning, adds vague projects, and sometimes does not understand students' speech or writing. Needs to retire from teaching TSLN and stick to ESLN.

Wang is a disastrous teacher, grader and language user. Though being a prof, she frequently does grammatical as well as phonological errors! She's never clear about the assignments she wants students to do.I believe that she herself doesn't know what she wants, so can't tell students what they need to do. She respects students, but it means a little

She is an awfull teacher. She never answers questions in a way that makes sense and her lectures are practically. Be prepared to sit down for hours a day and teach yourself everything cause she isn't going to do it

Tests aren't easy, but they're fair. Listen in class, she likes when people seem interested in the class, and sit near the front of the room. Make an appointment with her and make a list of questions. Ask questions until you get an answer you understand, or ask after class. She knows her English isn't great, so she'll clarify herself face to face.

Wendy is a cheerful, kind teacher, and although her explanations may not be perfectly clear the first go around, she is great at fielding questions and helping students who ask for it. A true professional and a pleasure to have as a teacher.

Wendy was probably one of my least favorite teachers I've ever taken. Her directions are quizzes and projects are some of the worst I've ever seen. She makes things more confusing than it should be. However, she is a nice lady and is willing to help, but I still would never recommend taking her.

When it comes down to it, Wendy means well and will do her best to make herself available to meet with you, but without clarity in what she wants, changing what she says each time she meets with you as well as in class, and being an extremely difficult grader, her good intentions mean very little.

Yes she is nice but she cannot teach. two essays,3 tests 10 quizzes, she drops two but she will quiz even though she might have taught the chapter the same class. If you want a high grade be prepared to do a lot of reading and studying on your own because you will not learn much from her.

her accent is moderate; she is not a native speaker, she prefers women student rather than men. She focuses on home assignments more than participation in the class.

She's very professional and kind. Some students may complain that she's vague, but if you go to her for help, she's there for you. She goes out of her way for the betterment of the TESOL program and for her students' future. If you don't like to work, then don't take her class...she expects a lot from her students.
