Dr. Wightman is awesome! I was not excited about having to take this gen ed cluster and I really enjoyed his class. He made it painless and easy to get through. His tests are easy as long as you do the study guides he gives you!

Super goofy guy, makes art super interesting for people who aren't necessarily into art. Really cares about his students and makes the most of the material he teaches! He also makes a part of the class based on what the class decides they want to learn about.

Wightman is someone I genuinely enjoyed having. I took him at 9:30 AM and quite honestly if it weren't for his energy and charisma I would fall asleep every class. He is SO passionate and truly cares to establish relationships with his students (even if you aren't an art major!)

Truly, the best professor I've had at JMU. Easy and interesting class that doesn't demand your intention, but instead earns it, and a really great guy. I have taken much worse professors with much higher ratings on RateMyProfessor

TAKE HIM!! His test aren't difficult but you have to study for them. Easy A for a gen ed if you put in a little work. He is hilarious.

This class was very easy. This may be because I am an Art major, but the content is not hard as long as you memorize the artist and their paintings. There are study guide also given out that are a life saver.

Bill is literally the coolest professor. His lectures are so interesting you wont want to miss class. He really cares about each and every one of his students and wants us all to succeed. There's lots of papers and you do have to read the textbook but if you put in effort you will be fine. 10/10 recommend

Probably my favorite professor I've ever had!!! He genuinely cares about the stuff he's teaching so he makes it more fun to learn about it. He even occasionally shares videos of him doing weak stuff like fighting a gladiator or salsa dancing. 10/10 would recommend he's super chill and funny and the actual best

I'm a health sciences major and took this class for GE requirement, but it made me realize how much I love art. Lectures are funny and quizzes/assigments/exams are easy. Wightman loves when people come to his office hours, so go to them if you can. He'll talk to you about anything! Definitely take him if you have the option.

TAKE him! He's a super quirky guy and gives fun lectures. We have POD (group) assignments but they're simple and I got 100's on all of them. The tests are fairly easy but you need to study. His power points aren't that helpful since they only contain images, so you should take notes in class and make your own study guides.

LOVE HIM. he is super energetic and goofy and just wants to make his class enjoyable for all crowds. He does take attendance for a grade, and yes the power point slides don't have any words, but you can use your laptop to take notes of the art images. There's not much to take note on he doesn't expect that much. tests/quizzes arent easy so do study

The absolute nicest, funniest, most caring and passionate prof I've had at JMU. His art 200 class is honestly harder than other teachers, but he is so sweet and caring about the subject that it's so hard to dislike him. He will make your day. Study hard for the tests and quizzes, but he is such a nice guy.

AVOID. Attendance is mandatory, your grade drops with every class you miss. There are no words on his PowerPoints so you have to write down everything he says which is impossible because he talks fast and goes on tangents. Study guides are extremely long and he tests on things that aren't on the guide. Ridiculously difficult for an elective/gen ed.

Has the ideal personality a student could only dream of out of a professor. Hes ridiculously funny, even though the class isnt usually participating he still tries really hard to keep his jokes going. Ive been in tears from laughing many times. Attendance policy is meh but he makes it worth going to 10/10. Wish he taught all my classes

Take him!! He genuinely cares about each student and gives very passionate lectures. He's also very entertaining in class and very approachable. There are team projects throughout the semester but they maybe take 20 minutes tops each and are an easy A. Attendance wasn't mandatory but he quizzes on artists not listed in the text, so go to class!!

He was easily my favorite professor this semester. He's SO funny and always keeps you interested in his lectures. He cares a lot about his students, plus he showed us some funny videos of him embarrassing his kids.
