Comment:

Not a great teacher. Makes the subject very difficult without giving much help. I love calculus in general but after taking his class, I just want to get it over with. Homework is not too difficult grading is inconsistent on homework and exams. Exams are very hard and half of the class failed the 1st exam. Please try to find a different teacher.

Dr. Zweck is a difficult professor, but you will learn a lot from him if you care. He has high expectations, and he is willing to help you if you seek him out. His homework and tests are difficult, so working with others and asking him good questions is imperative to do well. He good professor overall, especially if you want to actually learn.

Comment:

The hard exams and large homework load are trivial compared to how much understanding of the material that is gained from having him as a professor. He is very helpful, but he requires you to think on your own. His lectures are engaging, and he explains hard concepts with clarity. He is hands down the best math professor I have taken.

Best math teacher I have ever had. Even though his tests are tough and my grade suffered, I came out knowing so much. Very clear and understandable with concepts. Definitely worth having him as a teacher if you want to learn a lot.

Very thick australian accent. Unapproachable and short when you ask him any questions. His TA's have no clear grading method. Tests are hard, and often have no warning to what will be on them. Does not seem to care about what grade his students earn.

Dr. Zweck rocks! By far one of my favorite math professors at UMBC. Some students don't like him because he seems difficult, but if you put in the work, he is very supportive and an all around great teacher. I recommend him to any math major.

Pretty good at explaining things usually, although he tends to try use analogies and examples that confuse more than help. Often makes you feel like you aren't worth his time. Not approachable at all. He told us one class that he was a great teacher and that we were lucky to have him and his teaching seems to go by that opinion.

NO EASY A. He does a lot of proofs, and asks for 1 every exam he gives. The matlab projects were very hard. If you do all the work he asks of you, and you actually spend time studying and going to him for help, you should come out with an A or B because he curves. Definately take him if you want to learn something.

Dr. Zweck is a very good teacher. He likes to emphasize the theory and concepts behind the material that is being taught so he puts theory questions on tests which some students can have difficulty with. Dr. Zweck knows math very well and certainly loves the subject. He is good at explaining the concepts. He is also helpful if you have questions.

1st off, u can't give a bad rating cuz hes hard. His lectures are well prepared & tries to figure out what is going on in the minds of the students when teaching. He always says "you gotta hassle me! I should be sick of seeing your face by the end of the semester". His tests are hard and the amount of homework he gives is WAY OVER THE TOP.

Zweck's lectures generally follow what's going to be on the exam, but he makes them VERY hard. The curve is something like a 55% for a C, and still a lot of the class got below that. Annoyed when you ask questions, but insists you ask them anyway. I did not find him very approachable. Lots of work and not always clear, try to take someone else.

I did every single homework and practically lived at the LRC. I didn't pass the class due to some of my quiz/test grades. I put so much effort into this class and still did not pass. I definitely recommend a different calc teacher.

This prof. is really good teacher. He's hard though during exams and loads you up with a lot of homework. If you go to his lectures they are useful but they seem to be 10x then they are. I don't recommend you this prof. if u want a easy "A"

Worst math professor I had. Actually, worst professor period. He gives a large numer of completely pointless homework assignments, gives a pointless project and also grades unfairly. He pretty much decides at the beginning of the semester what grade you will get. He is also not particularly helpful or approachable.

He's a bright and clear math teacher teaching math. If you are a math major taking an upper-level class, I recommend him. If you're taking him for a lower level class though, like Calculus or Linear Algebra, you will probably learn a lot but I imagine it's difficult.
