Comment:
Dr. Li is knowledgeable, but I was disappointed in how basic the content was in Earthquakes. For an upper level science class, she didn't challenge us much. She taught isolated facts only and I didn't learn much. It was an easy A, but it was hard to actually learn and not just memorize the material.

Helpful and friendly, she only gives 4 assignments for the whole semester. Her lectures are a little dry, but she posts her slides online. She gives huge bonus points for attendance, but it's not mandatory. Her tests have mostly free response so tons of extra credit

Class was as expected of a science course. She can be hard to understand at times with accent. Test were multiple choice and free response. Takes attendance randomly. Also group project at end of semester instead of final exam. She does curve you final grade. I had a c- but ended u with a b+

Comment:
She is very difficult to understand (accent) and actually told the class not to email her with questions, but to email the TAs/go to GLC instead. However, the TAs werent any easier to understand, so you'll pretty much have to teach yourself. She takes attendance randomly, which creates the problem of a captive audience. Cheating was commonplace

Comment:
Go to the GLC for homework help after a. reading lecture slides b. reading text book c. trying it on your own. Form a study group. Tests aren't so bad, she tells you what the free responses will be. Make sure you understand them! Multiple choice part is easy. This class requires a lot of outside effort. She does not make it interesting. . . . .

Not on easy class, test are multiple choice and short answer. This is a class that you need some background knowledge on earthquakes.

Comment:
Only 3 tests 20% of grade, 3 quizzes 20%, 3 assignments 20%, and one group project 20%. Does not curve, no extra credit, strong accent, just reads power points which have many grammatical errors. Free response questions are very hard, and are the majority of the tests. Do NOT take this teacher, even if shes the only one teaching the class.

DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. I love geology, but she ruined this class for me. VERY THICK ACCENT, go to GLC to learn. Not helpful when asked, was told to go to TA. Lectures by power point, doesn't get students involved. If it wasnt the language barrier, it would be better...Unless you understand accents, seriously..DO NOT TAKE HER!! SHE DOES NOT CURVE!

It is only hard because her english is terrible. Don't worry, go to GLC for HW help and study the slides for the exams. All of it is conceptual, no math involved. Best prof for the course at UH. If you cannot understand her, don't go, it will not help to sit there and waste your time. Just read the slides for that day and refer to the text needed

You'd be better in you room and sleeping than to come to her class, and I don't know how she even qualified as a Professor of Geophysics. Someone needs to have one of the higher ups sit down and audit her while she lectures. She was in denial when the entire class raised their hands asking for help since she didn't show any examples at all in clas

I don't know how they allow her to be a professor. DO NOT take her. She gets defensive if you ask her for help, and even laughs at you in front of the class if she thinks you asked a stupid question. She gives no examples, tests are impossible to prepare for since there is no book for the class. Can't understand what she is saying most of the time.

Horrible professor. If you've taken upper level classes, you'll be fine. If you haven't, it's gonna suck. She explains NOTHING. It's pretty much up to you to figure things out.

This teacher is one of the WORST teachers I have ever taken. You can't understand her, she uses slides but doesn't know how to teach off of the slides, she can't understand you if you speak to her in plain english, and her exams are nothing like what you would find in the textbook or anywhere. Absolutely horrible! Avoid at all costs!

Earthquakes. Extremely easy class. She teaches from slides and is hard to understand due to thick accent. Her tests and homeworks are too easy. This class should be a freshman level class, not a junior/senior. If you want to learn earthquake seismology, this is not for you. If you want an easy A, this is your class. Book is worthless.

The class was a GHOST TOWN, so anyone unhappy with their grades simply didn't go! VERY easy for an upper level science. If you just pay attention, do the work,& study just a tiny bit you will be in the top 15% of the class(because everyone else does nothing!)I suspect a generous curve at the end, because I wouldn't have made an A without one. EASY A
