Comment:

Worst class ever! I can study and get an A in pretty much ever class I have, but you could study for a week for this class and it would still be hard to get a B on a test. He's not helpful and makes the class more difficult than it needs to be. Tests are somewhat like lectures, but the book doesn't really help that much either. No reviews!

Comment:

A very witty and humorous professor. I could see how his voice could be considered dull by others, but I often enjoyed his lectures. No homework. Attendance is optional and not necessary to pass due to him posting his lectures. Lets you out on time. Hard extra credit but easily Googled.

4 tests total, no homework, no class work. Your test grades are your ONLY grades. Terrible class, I am typically an A+ student and I will not be passing this class.

Monotone lectures. Only two 30 question + labeling tests for a vocab-based class (so you'll be tested on like 30500 vocab words). No study guides. Test are lecture based. Doesn't understand you when you ask questions. Slow to reply to emails. Labs will consume your time and only worth 1 credit hour. Tough grader. Book only kinda useful for lab.

This class was incredibly boring. The professor would read directly from the slides the whole lecture, and it was just incredibly dry. The subject material is boring as well. This class needs an engaging professor to try and make the dull material a little less dull.

Sigh, I wish I had taken another science. This class is incredibly difficult and hard to get through. Lectures are long and boring but he does not take attendance and posts videos of his lectures online. He gives a little extra credit but they're difficult. HE DOES NOT USE THE BOOK, don't waste your money and time.

I really wouldn't suggest that anyone sign up for any of Mr. Evans class. I took this same class with Van Wijk in Spring 13, and signed up for her again for fall 13 so I could push my grade up from an A- to an A+. In the end, I got a C-. The exams do not match the slides in class and the class is not very interesting. I do not recommend him at all

Lots of information to absorb in this class. Lectures can be dry at times, but Dr. Evans is an exceptionally witty guy who always manages a zinger or two in class. Very helpful outside of class, but does not post slides, only taped lectures. Tests are essay, and he expects you to write coherently. Euro grading system (B~60). Enjoyable guy.

DON'T TAKE HIM!! He puts his lectures up online and also says refer to the book's CD and you'll be able to pass. But an 80 is an A so that should give you an idea of how his tests are. Even if you study and do everything, it's still hard to even make a B!

If you are a business major just trying to get your science credit over with like me, this is NOT the class to take. Ian Evans is really hard, not only because the tests, but because he is very boring. Nice guy, just extremely boring. His quizzes come from both the textbook and the lectures, so do both. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU DON'T LIKE GEOLOGY.

zzzzZZzzzz He's SOO boring. NO such things as multiple choice tests. Very precise, he wants every single detail about what you're writing about in essay tests. 5 annoying pop quizzes. Shouldn't be hard if you read your notes every day but I hated it and never did any of that. but he posts notes on vnet.

If your not a science major or interested in geology he may not be the professor for you. But he is very fair & clear & he test directly from his notes. Essay test are a little tough but you can figure about a 20 point curve which makes them doable. I took the class seriously, kept up, and made an A

WRONG it is the most boring class ever and the quizzes are super hard i mean the man is nice but he's talking about soil,how fun can that be so i don't recommend this class i wish i would have been to this site and seen his rating but it's way to late
