Comment:

Professor Arefi is a pretty good teacher. She definitely knows her stuff and can elaborate on things eloquently. However if you are looking for an easy A, Dont take this class. You need a 95% in the class for an A. Overall her class is alright , but her grading is unfairly difficult compared to the other teachers in campus.

Comment:

Professor Arefi is great! She does give many writing assignments, the grading is easy. As for the weekly journals, the first copy is always a draft. She gives them back in time to revise & guide you for your papers. At the end of the quarter you turn in the 10 journals. There are also 4 papers & you can't redo those. Overall I enjoyed her class.

Professor Arefi is a very straightforward and efficient professor. The only thing that I disliked about her class was that it's pretty repetitive so it gets boring. She sometimes like to put students on the spot, but she won't drag you on for the rest of the quarter about it. Overall, decent professor.

Wonderful teacher. I suffer from terrible social anxiety, which makes things difficult. She was very understanding and encouraging. Highly suggest taking any class of hers.

Professor Arefi was my absolute favorite English professor at De Anza. The material she chose to cover was interesting, and I actually enjoyed going to class to discuss the readings. Her tests and essays were super straightforward. Not a hard class, just do the reading and pay attention!

Class was pretty standard, professor was pretty standard. Honestly I would give a higher rating but I disliked the way she raised her voice at students over small things. Gave the impression that she was very stressed and every student inquiry was just an annoyance to her. Other than that, fair grader and the book we read was actually interesting.

Ms. Arefi is a great teacher. The class is easy and straight forward. Basically she goes over the reading during class. We have quizzes most of the time in the beginning of the class about the reading we had to do which is easy. We only had to read 4 books one was a comic book. The books are very interesting. I also took her for EWRT 1a

If you're someone that doesn't like English and just wants to pass, then this is the class for you. You have 10 journals to write but they are so easy. 1-2 pages double spaced and she gives you so many chances to turn them in late. Pop quizzes are about the readings and all the books are on shamoop. 3 papers in total last paper is the final.

All I can say is that sites like shmoop or spark notes is your friend if you hate reading. Tons of journals (2-3 pages), pop quizzes, and lectureSSSSSSSSSS. On the bright side is that she's an easy grader on the essays and participation is needed for a good grade.

We read an interesting book, her quizzes are easy, essays are graded pretty easily, she's pretty sweet and funny! Only a reasonable amount of work required for an A. She can treat you a little childish sometimes

Arefi is can be a bit sarcastic at times, she makes weird jokes to herself. Her class overall is 'ok' although her notes can be clear, shes not an easy teacher to talk too. She will put you on the spot.

Comment:

Very interesting choice of novels, but dull lectures. A lot of the comments she makes about the literature discussed is straight from SparkNotes - I would have preferred more original insights. She has pretty clear grading criteria, and will help you when you need it. There are pop quizzes every now and then, so make sure you show up to class.

Comment:

She assigns four essays in 1A that were kind of hard to draft but easy to revise. If you want to revise your essays, you shouldn't let her do it since she will take a long time. However, she will tell you to take your drafts to the ATC who have superb revisers if you ask her how to revise your drafts. The novel is extremely boring though.

She is excellent at teaching. She is clear with directions and gives helpful comments to returned paper. She is a fair gader, yet harsh sometimes. For EWRT 1A, I had the third highest average in class of 30 students and still managed to get an A-. Okay She's a good teacher but her personality is rubbish. She is rude and hates to help outside class

Afefi's class was great. She picks a diverse selection of course material which helps stay engaged throughout the entire quarter. She has her occasional moody days but as long as you can follow directions you will be ok. She gives good feedback on the work she returns so you can improve your writing techniques. Do every assignment and you will pass

Required 50 course reader. Two EC assignments one requires you BUY a book that she has a poem in and write about it can''t just write about the poem must provide an original receipt of purchase for the book to get credit. Shady. Her grading scale in the course reader is all screwy. Peers and I noticed that she can be hostile at times.

Arefi is a nice teacher with an organized agenda. The classes get extremely boring because of her repetitive class plan. Her assignments like journals are easy. Classwork is good, and quizes are bearable if you listen in class. Four essays no in class so its not bad. Highly recommend if you want to take it to chill.
