Have to buy course pack that's around $80.00. Tons of reading. 4 paper exams - 1,500 words or so EACH. 8 page research paper. Strict on attendance. Gay is really cool. Breaks down complicated material into understandable bits. Funny guy, too. Will let you audio record lectures. Very understanding and cool about stuff. Great prof.

I am a Philosophy Major and have taken this man every semester for the past year. I love him and his classess. It is a lot of writing and reading. I learned so much in his class. All you have to do is write what he says for your essays and you will get at least a "B"! This is by far the BEST PROFESSOR at UNCC not just the Philosophy Department

Bill is INSANELY smart and is intense to listen to. I think he sometimes forgets that he's talking to students because he'll just keep talking and talking in class but he will always clarify any confusion. He also grades extremely fairly. I like him.

The most eloquently spoken person I think I've ever met. He reads way too much and expects you to do the same, but if you follow along in class, take notes, and study the study guide, you'll be fine.

Dr. Gay is an intimidating, challenging, & brilliant professor, but manages to remain kind & humble regardless. Ultimately, what made him one of my all-time favorite professors was his ability to clarify complex philosophical concepts.

This man is a great teacher. If you are a Philosophy major you will find that he is among the best. He does require you to work, and learn. If you are in school then you should have a desire to work and learn. Just do listen and work hard. It will all work in your favor. I am a Philosophy major, and I love this man.

I took his Phil of Language and Modern Phil. Uses big words and is kind of hard to follow sometimes, but tests are VERY EASY. Complete essay test and all he wants to hear are his opinions spit back out at him. As long as you're a decent bs-er, I would take his classes.

Decent professor overall, but quite tough. He talks really fast sometimes and it's hard to follow him because he bounces all over the place. Good sense of humor though.

Bill is intimidatingly brilliant, but he realizes that his students are not on his level and makes a sincere effort to help clarify the concepts presented in the course. Assigned readings aren't really necessary as long as you listen to what he highlights in class. If you really hate writing, do not take his class. No cummulative final exams.

Rude! Cuts people off, picks favorites and disregards anyone else's opinion. One of my least favorite professors at UNCC! It's a shame people think so highly of him, because really he is intolerable, elitist, and uncompromising. Very disrespectful to students during discussions. Avoid if you ever want to voice your own opinions and be heard.

I am not a philosophy major, but, I think this guy is completely nuts. His lectures consist of pointless questions that are impossible to understand. He definatly loves the sound of his own voice.
