Forget the previous reviews, Dr. Cole is amazing! He is kind, easy to follow & engaging. Everything u need to know is in the lecture. His tests were over broad concepts rather than specific details. Write down everything he writes on the board, which its not a lot, go to class, take notes, know how to apply broad concepts & you'll do good!

I'm gonna be honest; people who grade Dr. Cole badly are lazy and not willing to put in the work to succeed in his class. He structures the course fairly and clearly, it's just that you need to actually be in class and take good notes to do well in the tests. The class is interesting and his excitement about animal behavior is contagious. Amazing!

Powerpoints have no words, they're just pictures which means you have to go to class. He's one of the hardest graders I've ever had. One of his points is on "extra-ness", which means how well you write and if you add lots of details in your paper. Tests are 1/2 multiple choice and 1/2 essay. VERY interesting class though!

I thought that the class (animal behavior) was fairly interesting. Dr. Cole is quite nice and is enthusiastic about the subject that he teaches. He was very useful during office hours. His powerpoints have no notes or words on it, so it's essential that you come to class everyday to do well on the exams. 15% essay, 10% quizzes, 75% tests.

You can tell he is passionate about his lectures however he could do more to get the class interested as well. Lecture powerpoints are only made up of pictures so thorough note-taking is mandatory to do well. Test are around 30 questions with confusing answer choices. The final exam is 5 essay questions. Definitely will NOT take this professor again.

Cole is extremely passionate about the subject. I attended every lecture and recorded the lectures, yet I still made 50s on all of the exams. Exams are 30 Q and the final is 5 essay questions. The average of each exams are 20/30. He said he will normalized the grades, but you probably won't know where you stand after finals (which is too late)..

record lectures/write notes since all exams are lectured based. ONLY 4 EXAMS! Many managed to ace exams (not me-C's). His office hours are flexible and he does curve according to how the class performs in total. Some exam questions don't cover what was taught. 3 exams were MC, final was 5 written answers about a paragraph. The readings help!

Dr. Cole's lectures are deceptively laid back but the more you listen the more you realize is there. He uses great examples and is very responsive to questions. His tests are all essay, and there are a couple one-day-turnaround essays as homework. If you hate writing essays you probably won't love the class. But I don't and I did.

Dr. Cole is a friendly, happy professor. His lectures were a little hard to follow and boring sometimes, but he is very enthusiastic in the subject. He cares about students and love to hear students' insights/questions. A short quiz every other lecture. The exams were quite hard, all essay questions. A short paper due every other week. A good prof!

He can be a little vague so make sure to ask questions if you have any regarding the content or assignments, other than that, he is a nice guy. Reading the book is very useful in this class and take good notes since his slides have very little information. Exams are multiple choice except for the final which is a combination of mc and essay format.

All the things he explains in class are very general and broad. However, he wants specific answers on the test. Tests are in essay format. If you think that you are just going to write down something and he would give your partial credit then you are WRONG! He will not feel bad for a big zero on your half-paged answer. Test average: is 40.

For everyone complaining about his Animal Behavior class being difficult, it is a SENIOR LEVEL CLASS in COLLEGE. Yes his exams hard but they are in no way impossible. The rest of the class (quizzes, projects) were pretty easy. To do well in the class, attend EVERY lecture and take GOOD NOTES. His powerpoints have no text so you must be there.

Interesting class, very important to take notes and ask questions if something is unclear. Exams look easy at first glance but easy to mess up. Final exam surprised me a bit.

Dr. Cole is really nice. He does explain material well, but you need to be able to take good notes. He gave mc tests that seem easy, but are actually tricky. 2 papers only 2 pgs each. No reviews for exams. Grades are curved. Ask him any questions you have; he is really helpful.

Not nearly as bad as the last post made him out to be. Exams are in essay/short answer form and somewhat difficult but generously curved. Attend class, read through the online notes, & you'll do fine. Prof. was very helpful when I talked to him, but expect him to take a no-nonsense line with students, especially if you come across as unreasonable.

Lectures & engaging and easy to understand. However, really good note taking skills are necessary for the exams, which look simple but can be a little tricky. Wrote 2 papers which aren't so bad. Class isn't hard if you put effort into it. The class is curved; I don't have a 90 something average, rather an 80 something & was given an A in the class

I think he's good. He rambles a little and gets off topic sometimes in lectures, but it's usually interesting. Essays are pretty straighforward, tests are very easy if you attend class. You have to attend if you want to understand the material because the notes he puts online are mostly pictures and graphs that don't make sense on their own.

Difficult class! It's not as easy as the title sounds. Lectures were interesting, but the essay type exams were graded very harshly! I ended up getting a C+ and I attended lecture everyday and read the book once in a while. I was disappointed at the way he assessed our knowledge. This will be my first C+ at UH :(
