I love this instructor. Hes great and really cares about the students understanding and passing. Hes willing to work with you. He goes into detail and is good at explaining, you can tell he is passionate about the subject. He speaks very well and respects students. The material isnt very hard, but you do need to pay attention in order to pass.

I studied a lot!Boring lectures. He does not cover book problems but most of the test questions on the test are math problems (test 1 was 70% problems) the teacher assistant took test 1 with us & he said it was hard & he didn't have enough time to work all of the problems (no hope for us). Provides no previous test for reference. Do NOT take him!

Really boring lectures, but come anyway for the extra credit given thru clicker questions. Exams didn't stray far from lecture material; I just didn't like that there were too much unit conversions involved with the math questions (took too much time). I would say the best way to study is read the ppt lectures and do practice problems.

Briggs is a very tough teacher! Tests are multiple choice, but extremely difficult and given in a very limited timeframe. He does give extra credit for attendance and going to tutoring. His lectures are boring and do not have anything to do with the tests. If possible try to take another teacher.

If u can, dont take him. He will try to put as much info as he can on the tests. The book problems are useless. He goes absolutely crazy on the last test. averages were in the 50s for both test 3 and the final. Lectures can get really boring. Best advice would be to memorize the slides and hope for the best. Throws a lot of curveballs on tests.

Worst professor to take. Rude to students. He doesn't care if you pass or fail. Take Bark if you can.

Extremely boring. Tests are moderately difficult, but old exams are helpful. Don't just rely on them though because he changes them every semester. Very helpful when you go to his office. Super nice guy.

Awesome professor. He is very helpful you can email him your questions or go to his office hours. DO the HOMEWORK!! he uses homework questions for the exams. Also if you can get a hold of old exams...DO IT, but be careful because if all you do is study old exams you will probably only get a C- on the exam.

Dr. Briggs is great. The material is hard and you have to study and a lot and REALLY understand it. His tests are tricky. But he is VERY clear in his lectures, you should attend them for a better understanding. He is also clear as far as what will be in exams. No surprises. Excellent class.

Dr. Briggs is awesome, and truly cares about his students. Slackers beware! This class is not for you- it requires work. The homework he assigns is not graded, but he takes most problems (sometimes word-for-word) and uses them on exams. If you have old exams, very helpful, but hard to find. I studied at least 20 hours a week, and got an A.

I am a senior at UH and Dr. Briggs was the first professor that I took who actually cared about his students. This class is hard, but if you listen to him carefully, read the chapters, you will do fine. I could have studied MUCH more than I did, but still got a B+. I was .1 points from an A, but I am content. Go to his office, he helps you!!!

Dr. Briggs is a nice guy, but his class is extremely difficult. He assigns homework but then talks about how he doesn't like them, and they don't help much on the exams. The old exams are extremely helpful if you can get a hold of them but Dr. Briggs wont give them out and other students either wont give them or don't have them

Very hard to listen to lecturer. The material per test is a lot and this class is extremely time consuming. Old tests helped at first, but then he started assigned test seating and changed his questions to be a lot harder.

I took him last fall. The class itself is not easy you have to put effort into the course. as for his part, I think he did a good job explaining the material. he is very helpful if you go and ask him. old tests will give you an idea about his exam questions.

Teaching style is monotone but not that bad. This semester he changed it up - now there are seating assignments and the exams are different from previous-semester exams.. Yep you gotta know your material. However old exams are still helpful. TAKE GOOD NOTES DURING CLASS, he'll emphasize what you need to know. Grading scale is adjusted in the end.

I think Dr. Briggs is a better teacher if this subject is easier for you. If you know you're going to struggle with biochem, I would recommend one of the other faculty members. He's def monotone and dry at times. Could use some help getting out of his scientist mentality and making things a bit more relevant for his students.

Lazy professor. He uses the same questions from old tests so get a hold of all the old tests. Don't slack on the final bc it's a little bit trickier. Don't take this professor if you actually wanna learn something.
