Bruce was an awesome professor. I went into the course wondering if teaching was for me and he made me feel extremely confident that I can be an awesome teacher. He even brought his dog to the last day of class. He also occasionally wears a unicorn horn to class. He gave us awesome resources to succeed and clear grades and feedback. Loved the class

Bruce is extremely approachable and definitely cares about the success of his students. Papers/projects are mostly effort based as long as you complete drafts on time and take his feedback into consideration. Material read was actually enjoyable for the most part, his 202 course is definitely a nice enterence into the English department.

Bruce is the best professor Ive ever had at WWU! I was a little scared because I had just switched my major to English Lit last quarter and after taking this class with Bruce, I knew I made the right decision. Skipped now and then but honestly, just put a little effort in, and you will pass. I got 100% on everything just because of a little effort

Go take his class. Hilarious, really into the subject, and knows what he's doing. The only downside is you have to read a full book in each week, but it's not that bad. I managed to read all the required readings the day before. He's also really chill.

He is a pretty good professor. You're graded on quizzes about the books, one big paper, a choice project, and random activities related to the readings. It's not an easy class but it's not hard either. If you miss a couple points here and there you won't get an A, but he really cares about his students and their ideas so if you try you wont fail.

This was my first class with Bruce. He is a good teacher and likes what he teaches. His class structure is very formulaic. He also has it geared slightly toward students majoring in english with their sec ed focus. That was fine with me though and it isn't overwhelming. I wasn't a fan of all the group colaborations though.

Bruce was one of the most helpful professors I had at WWU. He is an excellent mentor, widely experienced, available to his students. He makes his expectations clear and leads by example. I will be using the materials and experience from his class into the foreseeable future. I only wish I could take more classes with him.

Bruce is awesome. You will never doubt that he cares about helping you learn how to become the best teacher you can in this class. It is incredibly practical. You will have an entire unit plan due at the end of the semester, but Bruce helps make sure you don't cram it all in at the end. Definitely take this class. PS - Have him tell stories.

Goebel is a hard teacher, but only because he cares. He is completely devoted to his work, and wants you to get the most out of his class... I would take him again, he is an awesome english teacher

Bruce made the class incredibly fun, and this turned out to be my favorite class I've ever taken at Western. The material was intriguing, and he was so relaxed about everything. He was helpful, lenient, and open to any new ideas.

This course was engaging and good (though early in the morning). Dr. Goebel is easygoing and has a very relaxed classroom with plenty of discussion. He provided most of the text, the two books we read were $8 ea. - very cheap class. I would definitely take another course from him, and recommend this one to anyone.

I found his classes interesting and eye-opening. He introduced a lot of material that I never would have found on my own. I took 2 or 3 classes from him (postmodern and Native American lit for sure) and enjoyed them all.

Bruce is a great teacher. I learned so much from him in the now defunct American Lit 1940-present, and in the English methods courses. However...the man (if he hasn't already) needs to cut that damn rat-tail off!
