Tough subject but he's fair if you're willing to put in the effort. Exams are like the quizzes and quizzes are like the homework. Gives you the content covered each day and all quiz dates on the first day in case you miss a class.

Lectures are confusing and fruitless. I ended up having to use khanacademy to help learn. The textbook (Linear Algebra: A Geometric Approach) is worthless, even though he assigns some problems from it for homework (don't worry if you don't understand). If you use your resources outside class, you will find his tests and quizzes insultingly easy.

Not a good professor. Doesnt have any idea how to teach in the modern age. He hand writes everything and never puts any grades online so its really hard to know where you stand in the class. Also, he hand writes the notes so they arent online which makes it difficult to study. I wouldnt recommend taking him.

Dr. Magurn is all about precision. He wants statements to be concise and simple. He values the aesthetics of a well-communicated argument. Notation and presentation must be done with utmost rigor and ease of understanding. For these reasons, I could see him being a great textbook author. In fact, he pretty much wrote the book for our class. Props.

His lectures are very clear and easy to understand. Everything is done chronologically in an order that makes sense and is easy to follow. Tests and quizzes are fair. Just be sure to do the homework problems and to study as you would in any math class.

got his method of teaching, and if you can't follow it, you're out of luck. He doesn't adapt to the classes needs. I'm taking it as a summer class, and he teaches us the material on day, and then quizzes us on it 5 minutes later. No chance to teach yourself of you don't follow his teaching. Good teacher if you have calc background. Not if you don't

Dr. Magurn emphasized material in our class that I could not find in any other textbook (Linear Algebra Done Right or Gilbert Strang's book, for example). Expectations were incredibly unclear. Handouts were helpful but inconsistently distributed. Most of what I learned I learned from Khan Academy and reading the book on my own. Poor use of tuition.

Dr. Magurn's the man. Class can be dull, but the material is always clear. The textbook is a great help. Do the assigned homework, and be ready for the weekly quizzes.

He is really nice, and stays in his office all weekdays to help students at any time. And he explains things clearly. Although that class is hard, he just expects you to learn, so as long as you are willing to study, you'll be fine.

Dr. Magurn is one of the best professors in the Math Department. His notes are clear and concise and his exam questions come from his examples in class. None of them are too difficult either since he tests your Calculus and not your Algebra. Highly recommended!

Bruce Magurn is the best professor at Miami hands down. He is EXTREMELY helpful and fair. He is a very nice guy! Every other prof in the math department looks like Hitler compared to him. Take his class if you get the opportunity. I have him next semester and absolutely love the dude. I would give him an A++!

Magurn is one of those people who should be working alone at a desk calculating ridiculous formulas, not teaching. He's nice guy, but not a very good teacher.

The Magnum Magurn rocked my world. So far he just walks up to the blackboard and starts talking. Just lays down proofs and doesn't take anything from anyone. His tests are totally legit and aren't difficult as long as you know the formulas. Just don't let him shoot you down with his diamond hard personality.

Do not take him for MTH 153. He kicked my butt all semester. He's really smart but too hard for this course. Impossible grader. He takes off points for what he calls "style errors" even if your answer is correct. Also make sure you include the = sign when simplifying proofs, 1% off for every one missed!

His voice put me to sleep. He made it pretty clear what was going to be on the test, but he was a very harsh grader. If you ever thought that points were unfairly deducted he will never budge to give them back. Make sure you show all your work and do exactly what he tells you on certain problems, or he will basically give you no credit even if y

Good professor, very intelligent...predictable exams and quizzes and he always gives the student the benefit of the doubt when it comes to grading. Good calc class, dont let "no calculaters" scare you, it means the exams are easier.
