I did not heed the warnings from earlier reviewers and suffered. Tests are ridiculous. Slides and videos are out of date. Don't take this class from him. DON'T DO IT!

I hated this class. The only thing worth hearing about from Dr. Jacobson is when he discusses race. The rest of his class was boring and he singled out students in a way that was inappropriate. The tests are very difficult unless you are very good at memorizing material from textbooks.

I did not like this class. TA was terrible- she was "sick" the entire semester and its finals now and she still doesn't have our papers from two months ago graded. But when I ask for an extension because I was sick she denied me. Jacobson was interesting, but his slides were old and unprofessional. Tests were impossible. I would not recommend him.

Class structure was good. The TA's were pretty tough graders on the papers and the tests were semi-difficult. There are a lot of questions from lectures so it is important to go to class. Quizzes were open-book, just don't forget to take them.

he's old. period. problems: he only teaches the liberal viewpoint (weird for byu i know) his slides are from 1995 at best, his tests are crazy hard (luckily he curves them) the book is INSANELY liberal. i'm not easily offended but danggit man - balance the viewpoints a little bit. I just think this class should be taken from someone younger.

Jacobson is a joke, one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He is getting older and he seems to not care about the teaching anymore. The tests are horrible, they are tests he has used for years and sometimes he doesnt get around to covering all the material needed for the test.Good luck if you decide to take a class from Jacobson.

I'm suprised by some of the more negative comments. I really enjoyed this class. I actually thought the lectures were fairly interesting. Sometimes the lesson went off on a tangent, but it wasn't that bad. I easily got an A. Using the study guides on blackboard for the tests really helps.

Great class! Prof Jacobson is hilarious. He is a very interesting lecturer. The textbook is fun to read and very interesting. The tests are super hard and you have to study for them a ton but he curves them. There aren't too many assignments. Attendance isn't mandatory but you will not do well on the tests if you don't go to class.

Kind of boring. You really don't do anything in class and you can get by without attending class. His tests are ridiculous, and hard to understand what he is asking. Tests completely out of the book. Review sessions are helpful telling you what to study. Funny guy though and I liked him.

The material tends to repeat itself, but Professor Jacobson tries to spice up the class a bit by acting crazy or letting us conduct semi-official experiments as a class. We only had a couple of projects and three tests, none of which were hard if you read the book and went to lecture. Overally, it was an easy, fun class, even though it was slow.

Dr. Jacobson's class was an absolute joke. I stopped going after two weeks because his lectures are all online, the quizzes are on Blackboard, and he tests straight out of the book. His lectures are boring and he rambles. Three papers and three tests...but a BORING class.

the class was a blow-off class until the paper. his guidelines for the paper were ambiguous and his grading was very picky on it. i have no respect for his teaching method or grading procedures. i felt like he had no idea what he was talking about. his class pushed me out of social psychology. i learned NOTHING!

He was OK but the lectures were kind of boring and he joked with some lady from his neighborhood everyday with inside jokes. He graded the paper really hard and didn't tell us how to cite like he wanted so he docked points, I thuoght it was unfair, the tests were kind of ambiguous as well.

He does not know much about this material at all. I have never seen this at BYU. Usually the professors know their stuff. It was like he hadn't read the book in 20 years, and so he made things up. I trusted the TA's knowledge over his. Maybe he knows more about other subjects, but not social psych.
