I think a lot of people dislike Dr. Bryson because the class is so difficult, but they forget that if they put aside the "OMG this class is hard" mindset and put in the work that is is totally doable. I personally enjoyed the way Bryson taught the class and I did very well by taking notes EVERY class and when studying use those + consult the book.

Dr. Bryson is the toughest organic professor at USC, and he takes pleasure in knowing that. His tests are much more difficult than other profs. His lectures are all over the place and he teaches by example without clearing explaining theory. His tests are tough, but there is extra credit. Be ready to study and do lots of homework.

I am usually a straight A student, but I am about to fail this class. He is absolutely the WORST professor I have ever had. He is rude and mean to his students, the exams are actually impossible ( the averages are always around 50), there is so much homework, and the practice tests are nothing like the real ones. Save yourself, and DO NOT TAKE HIM.

The mix of reviews here reflect opposite ends of the spectrum, so heres the honest truth. Absurdly tough, test averages in the 50's, that is accurate. Attendance is mandatory and he learns every single students (out of 100) name and seat. He offers minimal required office hours but is available by appointment or email at anytime. Tons of HW

Im still in his class but since registration is coming up I thought I would help some fellow students out. This class is the worst, Bryson is awful and offers like no office hours or help. His office hours are 10 mins before and after class so that's only 20 minutes per every 1hr15min lecture. thirTests are impossible. don't take bryson just don't

The Organic Chemistry Tutors in the Student Success center could not help me with his Test questions. They also showed me the tests they took from their Org I professors. They are much easier. Half the class failed the 3rd test. Save yourself the hassle, and take an easier instructor.

If you are looking to just pass and get your C/C+/B, take Bryson because it is easy to pass his class. An A is possible but difficult to get. His TA's help a lot with the learning more than his lectures. He is honestly not as bad as most make him out to be. Put in the effort to do well in his class and your grade will reflect that.

He is very approachable if you have any questions and explains things clearly. If you don't understand him, don't worry his TA's do a great job explaining. He gives you plenty of opportunities to make up some missed points, just make sure to GO TO CLASS AND RECITATION! I used the second language book and it was very helpful as well.

Bryson is known as one of the harder organic chem professors. This in no way means he is bad. I am in Orgo 2 now and am actually ahead of everyone else because of his class. If you study hard and and go to class it is very possible to get an A. Hate posts are probably from people who don't study and want to be spoon fed grades. use second language

Absolute worst professor I have ever had. Does not treat his students with respect. Not enough office hours. Not helpful when you ask for help. He teaches by explaining examples rather than explaining the concept and then giving examples. Class average on test 3 was a 37 out of over 100 points. You need 300 out of 600 points to get a C in the class

This is Organic Chemistry, so studying is a must! Bryson does present the concepts well enough to be understood, and he does go over some of the reactions. The challenge are his tests. Some of the test material do not accurately what is taught, and his lectured don't prepare you to solve problems. All the more reason to STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!

Bryson is a nice man who knows the material, but he teaches by just explaining his powerpoints. He doesn't prepare you for doing different kinds of problems and puts material on exams that he never taught. It's not impossible to do well, I'll escape with an A- or B+, but make it easy and take a professor who teaches well. Very boring lectures also.

Before taking this class I was terrified of Bryson because all that I heard, and after making a solid B+ I still have no idea why. He isn't very nice/interesting, but who cares as long as you pass right? Hard class with a solid curve that isn't impossible/hard to get a B in. Dont believe the haters.

Bryson really isn't a bad guy. I had it easier in O-chem than CHEM 112. Trouble with a unit? Bryson has a legion of TA's that can help you out. Bryson isn't very interesting, but if you care the slightest about getting a passing grade, you can get out with a C (45+ is a C). Dont believe the hate posts, Bryson is the easiest professor in this field.

This college-level organic chemistry, which means you will not be spoon-fed the material. Bryson presents it well enough, but you must take the time to study and assimilate it. He answers any questions throughly if you bother to ask. Overall, I think he's fine, BUT you do need to study.

This is Organic Chemistry. Of course it will not be easy. With that being said, you must definitely go to class and study. His class may be boring and he may not be the best organic chemistry professor, but all of his notes are posted online.

If you know whats best for you, you will not take Bryson. Not impossible to pass, but he takes organic chemistry and makes it 3xs less interesting than it already is. Speaks monotone, very hard to pay attention to. memorizes where you sit and his TAs are on the watch out for every one who gets on Facebook during class. Avoid him if you can!

Let me just say-I am getting my PhD in CHEMISTRY now and to this day this is the WORST professor I have EVER had. He does not teach the material anywhere remotely to the level it should be taught at. Really an awful disappointment. Did not prepare you for any furutre coursework. And his grades never reflected on the work and comprehension levels

Bryson is an extremely smart man who apparently memorizes where you sit in class. He knows when you don't come. His class is hard, but you will learn the material very well. It is Organic Chemistry so studying is a must. Glad I had the man as my professor.

Horrible teacher, His test are way above his teaching ability in class. He takes back partial credit points given by TA. He is an awful man and avoid taking him at any cost. He is also very mean and crazy.
