Vince is my favorite professor at the college. He is an amazing lecturer, a great research mentor, and by far one of my favorite people I've met in academia. He's a tough grader, but he really makes you learn! I've grown so much from his comments, and I am a better biologist because of him. He's also incredibly genuine, and he really cares.

Trying to get a good grade in an intro-level class? Don't take eckhart. He considers a B to be a good grade, which, would be good if grad schools thought so too. He expects way too much for the intro level class, and his tests are unpredictable. Hard to do well if you aren't willing to completely master all of the material.

Eckhart was a terrible professor. I didn't enjoy his class at all. He's good to work with for research but that's about it. Don't take him for intro. He might be resourceful for MAPs and stuff, but other than that, he isn't a great professor.

A great class, but I am biased because I love plants. A really great professor too, and always willing to help. Office hours seem small in quantity but he is always prepared to meet outside of them.

Vince is great. I made him my adviser for a reason. I love his humor, I think he does a great job with discussions in class. He'll make fun of you a little bit. Deal with it. 252 isn't my kind of bio, but I thought he ran a good class.

Eckhart is a great prof. Sense of humor on point. May sometimes be vague-ish about assignments and readings, and a little intimidating, but overall great guy. Made 8AMs fun! Highly recommended. Be nice, and you'll be treated nice.

Notorious for a sarcastic sense of humor and dispassionate attitude. If you want to get a good grade DO NOT take Vince. He does not understand the pressure on second year science students and he does not seem interested in how poorly many of his students do in his class. He will make you feel incompetent when you go in for help during office hours.

Incredibly intelligent and an excellent lecturer (which happens rarely). The material is interesting and the discussions are well set up and almost entirely student-led. He's cynical to the core, which leads to some thought-provoking conversations, but the look on his face whenever someone other than him is talking will shake anyone's confidence.

Although he sometimes tries not to seem like it, Eckhart is a nice guy. He wants to come off as a tough grader, but if you ask him for help and tailor your work around his expectations, you'll do fine. That's not ideal, but I did learn alot and enjoyed his class more than I expected to. Can be awkward, but is clearly passionate about bio.

Lets just put it this way... when he handed back the first exams... he stated that he rarely gives A's.... This class theoretically should have been really really easy. but Eckhart single handily made it extremely difficult with a clear disparity between easy to follow lectures to harshly graded exams. He loves his red pen!

I learned more from him than any instructor I've ever had. He's often not given enough credit for how much he cares about students. Although sometimes socially awkward, he is a truly admirable professor.

i was in his office once when a prospective employer phoned, checking a reference for his former student. rather than telling the student he couldn't give a recomm'n, he just gave a bad one to the employer. seems deeply unethical.

I truly enjoyed this class. Vince was always sweet and helpful and cool, as were his sidekicks Sue Kolbe and Rachel Brummel. I good intro bio course.
