Comment:

While Charles is sweet and absolutely knows his stuff, he uses very little technology, and the technology he does use is extremely outdated (I'm talking lecture points printed out on a doc cam and no canvas page). Little to no interaction with other classmates and discussion. Graded by very little assignments, and a TOUGH term paper.

THE MOST BORING PERSON I HAVE EVER COME INTO CONTACT WITH it was so hard to pay attention or even attend this boring class. Tests are super hard with no clear understanding of what he is even looking for-same with papers. WORST CLASS EVER.

Comment:

As a person, Charles is this sweet old man who really knows his stuff. However as a teacher, he just stands in front of the class and talks for 50 minutes. No slides, or PowerPoint, just an occasional doc on the doc cam. That made class a total bore. I just relied on the textbook and did fine though.

Horribly boring class. I scored higher on the test by cramming and reading the book than actually showing up to lecture and taking notes. Very knowledgeable, but hard to pay attention because he's so boring. Incredibly high amounts of coffee were consumed to stay awake in this morning class.

Comment:

His class is not exceptionally hard if you prepare well for the papers in his class and take good notes. While he is dry he is the authority on Environmental Politics and really knows a lot. Aside from that he has a heart of gold and is a great man, I would suggest his class.

Has very dull lectures, however, the lectures are very important for tests. He was not very helpful in during his office hours. Make sure to carefully read the syllabus!

He seems nervous when teaching, but is very knowledgeable. He answers questions mostly by email and is lenient when you ask for help on the paper. Dry sense of humor but easy to understand, and the test study sheets are harder than the actual tests.

Professor Davis is an absolute bore! Going to his class is useless; he takes all of his test questions from the book. If you don't have to take this class, DON"T! If you're a Political Science major, try to get any other professor, or memorize the book and don't go to class.

This is a great class! The discussions are fun and helpful and I haven't even heard the word "Marxism" mention or "deep ecology" so whoever wrote that is a nut!

Absolutely horrible professor! Do NOT take his classes! This man is very unclear and unwilling to help you outside class. The man is more boring than watching paint dry. Charles Davis, you should be barred from teaching! And yes, I did get a decent grade.

Very unclear from the beginning. Vague guidelines on tests and assignments. Grading appears to have been arbitrary. Davis, and indeed this department, have a reputation for being very unprofessional..check each syllabus before taking ANY coursework!
