Overall I think this was a good class. It was a little challenging for a 100-level class, but I did manage to get an A without much difficulty. As long as you pay attention, you'll be fine.

HORRIBLE profesor. I am a great student, with a 3.4 aGPA & his Pols103 class was closer to a 400 lvl class. He essentially spoke everyday, barely following his own powerpoints. He would put slides & papers on the screen that were completely full with words and spend maybe 15 seconds on it literally. Then said itll be on canvas. DO NOT TAKE

Comment:
Scott Moore is so unorganized. Extremely knowledgable about politics, but portrays his biased liberal opinions without abandon. He gets off on calling students out in class and has banned all use of cell phones. Be careful with keeping up on readings, he gives a pop quiz on almost every chapter. And when in doubt, always pick 'all of the above.'

Comment:
I kind of blame CSU for giving Dr. Moore an introductory course. He is clearly made to be teaching upper-level political science classes or even graduate courses. He will crack witty political jokes to a bunch of freshmen on their phones. Overall, I thought he grades papers very easy which was nice, but his tests could have been worded better.

Comment:
Super unclear teacher, just rambles on and on and on and on and there seems to be no overall point to what he is talking about. If you take this class you're gonna rely heavily on the textbook because his lectures are so unclear and its so difficult to take notes. He clearly understands what he's talking about but doesn't make information clear

If you're able to avoid this class, do so. Scott Moore enjoys lecturing all class about topics unrelated to the lecture, and then complaining about a lack of participation when he receives confused emails about his information. He is of no help to his students and acts like he doesn't want us to succeed in his class, even though this is 100 level.

Comment:
I'm a straight A student, and honestly had trouble pulling off an A in this class. The way he writes is confusing, the questions on his pop quizzes are bizarre, and he tends to spend the entire class talking, then complains about a lack of participation. I'm glad I took it (I want a degree in public administration), but I wouldn't recommend it.

Comment:
I am usually an A student and this class was awful. He goes off on rants that don't deal with the subject and takes the entire class, he is unhelpful, if you ask a question he says that its in the book and "was in class," He believes that his word and ideas of government are perfect even if they don't make sense. If you can avoid him do so.

His class is fairly difficult. He does not teach out of the book yet you have readings almost every day. His lectures are boring and hard to understand. You have 3 exams and 2 papers and about 9 quizzes, half of which are surprise which is why attendance is mandatory and be on time. You really have to take good notes.

I enjoy Dr. Moore but his class materials are way to hard for it being a 100 class level. He clearly knows what 'he' is talking about but some of us are barely taking our first polsci class and he needs to explain way more. I just sit there and look pretty I guess, because I have no idea what he talks about!!

Class isn't too difficult if you understand that he tests on his lecture material, not at all on the texts. Take copious notes on specific examples in class and tests will be a breeze.

Dr. Moore is a very smart man and is clearly passionate about politics. However when it comes to teaching he is the most confusing and frustrating teacher I have ever had. I would avoid taking a class with him.

I took this class because I had to have it for my minor. It was the only class being offered. Dr. Moore is a funny guy with dry humor, but his teaching ability is lacking. The material is not cohesive to the book, and the class was extrememly difficult. I got all A's in my 300 level classes, and I got a B in this class. I would not recommend him.

the material is dry but once you realize how relevant it is to your life then it becomes more engaging. moore is passionate about what he does and that makes it worth listening to him.

Went to class every day, did all the required readings and took many notes, yet still only passed with a C. It's a 100-level class! This class had potential to be interesting and informative (as the text was), however Moore is VERY hard to follow

Hard teacher. Very hard to follow. Class started off really hard, but it did get easier and more clear as class went on. Grading policy is a little arbitrary.

He did not have the syllabus ready until 6 weeks into the class. He gave no guidance on essay assignments or projects. His grading is arbitrary. His knowledge of the policy cycle is very limited.
