I really felt that there was no direction whatsoever. Fr Charles only needs to be liked. Let's just say Concordia need not worry; nor Mrs. Collier's seventh grade choir. His skill set does not compliment this institution. Nice guy.

This professor is brilliant. All the other posters must have personal issues because Fr. Charles is the most amazing choir director and man i know. Unappreciative and ungrateful people have left him nasty ratings and that is why they are still students and he is the professor!

I'm a music major, so I’m around Fr all the time. Terrible choir, but it's the students' fault. They're lazy and untalented (hence "cheat" on pitch) and numbers are low. He merely works with that. He tries to connect music to students through examples. In MusHist, smart and lots of notes, but fun, interactive. Won't spoonfeed info. Enjoys his field

Yeah, so the man can't conduct. It was a fun class though. If you're serious about music, you probably won't like his class, but it was a relaxing and fun class. Show up and easy A. No one tried, so yes it was frustrating, but who cares?

I was really surprised by all of the negative comments here; I've found Fr. Charles to be a very capable director, and he's also nice and easy to get along with. My only complaint is that a lot of the students show a real lack of enthusiasm for the class - but that's hardly his fault.

If you have ever sung before or had a good director, don't bother. This class is a joke just like the rest of vocal music at CU. It sickens me that the choirs could be so bad. I felt pathetic performing, it felt like a grade school choir. Unless you just want to get the 3 hours of choir out of the way so you don't have to take COM 152, stay away.

This is perhaps the abo****e worse choir in the city of Omaha. The music was boring, people never showed up, and it was all in all frustrating. The man can not conduct! I have more musical knowledge and I'm a stupid freshman! Music is a passion of mine and I am considering transferring because this class and the music department in general is such a joke. If you're in the Omaha area and considering doing any form of music go to UNO.

I thought this class was a lot of fun. We got to take an hour out of a busy day to do something easy. It doesn't matter if he can't conduct, its choir not chemistry 600 or something. people should learn to have fun! yes the music might suck but at least it gives your mind a break.

Worst choir I have ever been in. The first day he encouraged us to "cheat" by listening to our neighbors for the pitch. He can't conduct and doesn't know how to run a rehearsal. We don't work on musicality, only half learning songs. Worst choir I've ever been in. Nice guy, bad teacher.

I was pretty diappointed with this class. Nobody in the class really cared, including Fr Charles. He didn't even make sure everyone sat in their vocal parts. Come concert time, everyone was still reading off the sheet music.

Conducts beautifuly. Ignores mistakes and general laziness of class. Gives up on specifics, tries to get people to sing the proper notes instead. Witty and fun, enjoys his work.
