Comment:

He is so passionate for his class and he took lots of his time to prepare many media resources for each chapter, which are posted in Canvas, and you can't find these resources in your textbook. Someone said his class is too heavy, but I think if you really want to learn something, you really need to spend more time on it. I recommend his class.

Comment:

You can get an A if you do your work every week. With that, there's roughly 2 chapters a week that include HW, quiz & discussion board, so I felt it was workload heavy, but there's a clear structure for passing & you learn a lot. Plenty of online resources, lectures/feedback was a bit overwhelming, hard to keep up. Teacher is passionate!

His lectures are all over the place but he knows his stuff. The homework is clearly explained and well laid out. Projects are easy enough and graded kindly. If you are late or don't participate, best to find another prof.

Honestly, the worst teacher I've ever had. He's so bad I don't even consider him a professor. He doesn't teach from the book and he uses his own personal methods. The homework uses the books methods while his quizzes and tests are used from his own methods which are way more confusing than the books methods. He is also disrespectful to students.

Comment:

Kwak is a very well rounded teacher. Before going into the material, he examines the entire process of Managerial accounting so it makes sense when actually getting into the chapters. He gives great analogies and examples to help solidify the material. His lectures are very detailed but simple to understand.

After taking 1A with Kwak, I needed to take 1B with him. His lectures break down the material in a very comprehensive way and you can tell he knows it well by how deconstructed he makes the complicated chapters. 1B is a more complex continuation of 1A so i suggest you take a professor who is able to articulate the material clearly. Plus hes funny.

I had Professor Kwak for 1A, 1B and 1C. He is very funny and ties stories and funny examples into the material in such a contagious way that I still remember material from 1A after 2 quarters. He is the best professor and one of the greatest people I've met at De Anza. He is very clear on his expectations and extremely reasonable on test material.

Prof. Kwak is my teacher for 3 quarters. I really satisfied by his teaching method. he explains every subject with good real life examples. he always accessible after class time for answering our questions. thank you prof. Kwak for being our teacher.

Great professor all in all. Took him for 1A and 1B and I learned that showing up in class and paying attention is access to a great grade. While he might not give you an easy A, he acknowledges the time you spend putting into your work and will not give you a bad grade if your effort is shown. He makes lectures interesting and easy to follow.

Pro Kwak is one of the best teacher. Being in his class you actually learn something. Im really interested in accounting since he is our teacher. He explain any subject very well and even after class he spends time with students that have some questions.

Don't enroll in a class with him if it's just a prerequisite to you, or if you're expecting an easy A. His teaching style reflects his passion for the subject, so of course he's going to have high expectations for his students. He's not going to hold your hand nor change your diapers, but he will inspire you if you're willing to learn.

This is my second class with this professor. He is very easy to access , and he always make sure that you understand the topic , so many helpful lectures and notes on canvas, Cengage has extra work check. He remembers all of students name. Its not about passing the class its all about learning, if you work hard you will pass with good grades.

The only way you'll succeed is if you know how to self-study. You won't pass unless you know how. Sometimes his lectures won't be as clear, but the study tools & PPT slides he has available on Canvas & Cengage are extremely helpful. Homework assignments are easy. He only has two exams: one midterm & one final. I took him for 1A and again for 1B.

He is a very good professor He really wants you to understand Accounting I know he has very good Accounting knowledge and if you give attention you can learn lots of thing from this prof. If you don't know anything about Accounting take his ACCT-1A class he is the best of teaching from the beginning

Out of all my classes here at De Anza, this was the most confusing class ever that I didn't pass. Im finishing accounting 1b with a different teacher and even that is easier than this class. Prepare to self-study.

Comment:

Kwak is very condescending with his students. Your best bet for passing this class is using all of the Cengage study tools and videos. If you can do well by self-studying, you should be fine. There's only one midterm and a final, as well as weekly discussion posts on Canvas.

Tests are tough, lectures aren't clear. Your best "asset" is cengage. I would say its as bad as a class could get. Must self-teach yourself

Worst teacher I ever had! He goes off on a tangent about his lectures, and I couldn't understand a single thing he says. Very test heavy, and I would just love to complain to management to fire him. Absolutely bummed about the final. Don't take this class.
