Comment:
Mount is a super sweet dude who really loves teaching his subject which is apparent by his stunted Expo markers and wild hand gestures. His class is reading and writing heavy, but he values valid & structured arguments more than format. Only complaint: the lectures get long towards the end of the quarter (I don't have lots of interest in topic).

Really an amazing professor--he changed my view on religion entirely. Mount is incredibly passionate during his lectures--he is quick to help with any gaps in understanding and values all student input! The readings are SO interesting, and the discussions engaging. He truly wants you to learn and *think critically*. TAKE HIM, read, and participate.

Comment:
I think the class based on the historical Jesus was enlightening. However, be prepared to do lots of reading and writing under Professor Mount. I felt that it was difficult to fulfill other obligations while taking this course. In my opinion, I thought that the amount of homework issued was a bit inhumane.

Comment:
This professor teaches from an anti- Christian perspective and expects his beliefs and interpretations to be held as truth. You must reiterate his beliefs to pass the tests. You can express your own opinion in discussion but you won't pass unless you deny your belief in Christianity. Disappointing class for big $$$.

Comment:
Everything is graded out of 4. But the amount of effort I had to put into the class was not worth what I got out of it. Good luck spending less than ten hours on everything assigned, his lectures are long and boring, he assigns far too much to read, and his quizzes and tests are much harder and unclear than they should be. Only take if interested.

I found Professor Mount to be a very helpful teacher when it came to explanations in class about the readings. He is very passionate about this class. However, this course requires a lot of reading and the entire class is a discussion. If you don't read everyone knows. His explanations for papers were vague. Ask questions, it helps.

I took this class because I was required to as an honors student, and loved it. Have always been interested in world religions, but never really looked at them from an objective viewpoint until I took this class. Professor Mount makes you feel like your opinions really count and is truly helpful in achieving success. He wants everyone to pass!

Do the readings. The class is discussion based, so prove you read the homework by participating. It'll also make the class much more interesting, and it will make the writing assignments so much easier if you know what you're talking about. Take notes on the points he brings up during discussion. He's very engaging and I learned a lot.

He was so great. This is the honors class I was dreading and it turned out to be one of the most interesting that I've taken so far. He's beyond excellent at facilitating good, unbiased discussion. Such an interesting course and amazing prof.

I honestly went in with low expectations and Mount really surprised me at how interesting he made the course. Very unbiased and VERY accepting of all opinions. I don't think he ever disagreed with anyone ever. It was either "Yes, and..." or "Fair point, but have you ever thought of it this way?" Reading was never too much to handle.

I was looking forward to the class, but the professor is pretentious and the class was far more difficult than a 200 level religion course should be. I took it as an elective and found myself spending more time on it than my major courses so I dropped. More work than it was worth, and the online lectures were unbearable.

I wish I would have seen the comments before I signed up for this online class. Everything is 4 points and he makes it difficult for you to achieve 4 points. Lots of reading to do. I'm sure this class would have been easier in class than online. Just don't take it online...save yourself the annoyance.

I will never take this professor again. His quizzes and final were ridiculously impossible, tons of reading, and paper were difficult to get a good grade on. I'm sure he is a smart professor, but he's not very helpful or good at teaching. My 300 level class was easier than this 200 level. Everything was worth 4 points making it harder to do well.

I'll be honest, I took on in-class course with Prof. Mount and enjoyed it! Now, after taking an online course, I can honestly say I'll never take another of his courses. The readings were extremely difficult to understand and the pro. was rarely there to answer questions. The quizzes were also near impossible. Everything was worth 4 points.

Not what I expected. Tons of reading each week, impossible quizzes, 2 group papers, a final paper, and a final exam. Don't get me wrong, the professor knows alot about the subject, but this class was extremely tough. If you take this class, be prepared to take an extensive amount of notes on the readings and lectures.

I had weekly readings of well over 100 pages of scripture, weekly quizzes with questions that are not always answered in the readings, but rather he expects you to interpret scripture in the same way he does. Also, weekly discussion posts that are not always graded fairly. This class will consume all of your time! My advice is STAY AWAY.
