John Frary is possibly the most brilliant man I have ever met. He is tough, but has a heart of gold. Deals with no nonsense, as is his right. I took his class about 10 years ago, and it truly was life changing. It affected my career choice (I'm a college prof now), my life philosophy, the way I perceive education. Meeting him was a privilege.

Tragedy that he retired. Brilliant, funny(to anyone with a reasonable command of the english language)the kindest man you'll ever meet, the very best kind of professor to have-one that challenges you to do your best and actually THINK! I judge the quality of a student by how they rate Frary-didn't like him-you're pathetic. Syllabus is a gem.

Tough, smart, demanding but fair. Pay attention, take copious notes, use your brain and you will do well in his class. Goof off, be rude and expect to be ridiculed by him (you are now warned) He responds to undergrads who show the slightest sign of intelligence. You will learn history from him if you pay attention. It wasn't bad enough that Frary mumbled, but he has this sort of mumbling that puts you to sleep... and even creates the falling effect, because he'll raise his voice (you'll still not understand him) and wake you up terrified. He's a cool guy, intelligent, but he had to go.

Professor Frary is one of the most interesting and caring professors I've ever had. The only people who dont do well are the ones that are brain dead and lazy. If you do the bare minimum, which is read a bit and listen in class, you'll pass.

I had Mr. Frary acouple of years ago. Yes he was hard but as long as you did the work, it was not hard to get an A. He gave as many chances with extra credit work to help you. If I did not graduate, I probably would have taken another one of his classe

Those who do not have tolerance for boring professors should NOT take his class. His tests are very dificult and he is rude and mean to his students. He will embarass you in class when he can. Please take this advice: if you get him, change immediately!
