He lays out his expectations very clearly and very thoroughly. If you need a lot of hand-holding do not expect it from him. He is a tough grader but only because he expects your absolute best effort. He gives excellent feedback. He was tough but I enjoyed and respected him so much that I took another course of his; Engl268.

I mean, you shouldn't tell me that all I need to do is post to the discussion board then respond for full credit when you give me a 10/20 on each one. Seriously, I can't stand the way he grades, when I ask him to tell me what I did wrong I have no choice but to guess what the issue was. For the love of god, respond to my messages, that's all I ask.

Absolutely upset with this professor! When students try and spend their hard earned money for a professor to not even take into consideration of their hard work is absolutely disgusting! I would not recommend this professor even if he was the only option to choose from! Steer clear and chose another professor if you care about succeeding!

The book was not even helpful for the class. I figured an English text book would be of use. However, he expected us to have one on hand instead of having one mandatory for the class. The schedule is not straight forward as most of the work is on a calendar and not in the syllabus. Take another professor and save your gpa

Took Dr. B during a summer online class, have to say... not impressed. He was very dry, not good at giving feedback. TAKES FOREVER to get grades, he posts so much work he can't even keep up with grading it all. Typically he is about 2-3 weeks behind on grading. Felt like assigments were very redundent and repetative.

Dr. B is great! I took his online English 101 class and it was structured and organized. He lays all assignments out in the beginning of the semester so you know exactly when everything is due. There were only 4 papers, 1 small assignment, and the final exam. Plus discussion board posts, but those weren't difficult to do or keep up with.

Very bad teacher ! Doesnt give good feedback! Is very rude! When I asked about comments he said there there and then when I kept saying no there not he got really rude telling me online classes arent for me and telling me to call tech support! i cant help you call tech support do not and i mean DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER EVER!!!

I took an online English class. I would take my papers to get checked over and still would never get close to the grade I wanted. IF emailed him or on blackboard would take forever to get back if he ever did, was not responsive or helpful.

Mr. Bartholomaus is one of my favorite professors so far at MCC. I'm taking one of his American Lit classes online right now and I love it. His feedback is very thoughtful and he's open to discussing nearly anything you have to say about the readings. My only complaint: he is slow on grading our discussion posts, but his class is fun and an easy A.

Anything you turn in, he WILL grade difficult and be strict and won't ever hardly give you full credit for everything, even if you did what he asked or tried as hard as you could! He never emails back and doesn't care for you to get anything higher than a C on essays even WITH 5 tutoring sessions.

Worst professor in all of my years of school. His inability to give students constructive criticism is almost record-breaking. He constantly ignored private messages when asking for ways to improve your work. It was almost as if he didn't want you to succeed. He lacks in every aspect of teaching. Have you ever worried about the assignment link acting up on Blackboard? Well, if it does, he blames you. He didn't let me know until two weeks after I submitted the assignment that it didn't submit properly. He failed the paper and never contacted me to resend him another copy. Not a friendly instructor, to say the least.

Unless it is the only thing you are doing I would not recommend it. He's a bleeding heart liberal which is super annoying. And this is coming from someone who is pretty liberal. His grades are not based off of your writing ability but rather how well you pander to his already established pov. Don't piss him off because he grades out of spite too.

This is a great class but it is also very challenging. I would definitely take this class again but you have to be focused and manage your time very well. Be sure to meet the deadlines of the class. Overall, Dr. B has definitely prepared me to transfer to a University and be on the same level as other college students. I appreciate that.

Dr B is one of my favorite teachers. He loves class discussions about controversial topics. He is very liberal and opinionated about it, very open minded. And yes, you have to work for your grade. This is college,people. He even inspired me to start reading and writing more. If you are closed minded,not the teacher for you. would take again. A+ !!

I was completely disappointed that he wasn't teaching 101 the next semester. His feedback is great, he always takes the time to answer any questions you may have. Some people say he's a tough grader, I didn't think so. If your lazy and think you can just slide by I wouldn't recommend him but I personally found him to be a great professor.
