This class is super easy and interesting if you come to class. You don't need a musical background to do well. He's very enthusiastic about the material. I only studied my notes for an hour or two and got A's on every exam. The reviews are simple and quick. Definitely take this as a gen ed if you want an easy A!

Yoder is a nice guy but I probably wouldn't take this class as a gen ed again. He grades fairly but if you don't know music the listening can be brutal(you have to recognize the style, pick out the instrument you hear and give a performer who plays that instrument in that style). Test are basically all on his lectures so you need to go to class.

Talented musician. Knows his jazz thoroughly. It's my favorite class- all you do is listen to music the whole time. Taking good notes is the key to success. Tests are completely based on his lectures. More of a history class than anything else. He is a very fair grader. Written reviews are an easy 100. Great class. Not the easiest A.

Great class! Not an easy A though. He just lectures the whole class and you have to take your own notes, so if you don't pay attention you will fail the tests. He's really passionate about jazz music, though, and the class is really interesting. It's a great class but the tests are difficult.

Tough guy, but that's why he's so good, he gives the greatest gift-"high expectations". Constructive criticism, take it, it's good advice. Be willing to work and learn and you'll get what you want. In class your realize, if a goals accomplished there's always many more to accomplish no matter how great you are.

One of the biggest ****bags I have ever met in my life. Accused me of cheating before I went on to become twice the musician he is. If you are looking for a teacher that will ridicule you and then talk about you to other students behind your back, Dan Yoder is the teacher for you.

Cool guy, good sense of humor. I thought the class was a little too hard though. Only the kids who already knew their jazz got A's, what's the point of that? Still, I liked him and the class is very informative.

he's a nice guy, sarcastic too. he's a very fair grader: 5 tests, 3 reviews and an essay final. a lot of work but it's not that bad. we get out early everyday and half the time we just listen to music. you dont need a musical background to do well

Excellent teacher! The class is pretty easy and fun. Exams can be tricky but homework grade offsets this. Learned a lot and highly suggest this class.
