Honestly he's terrifying and yells a lot. If you're not used to acting, be prepared to get berated based on your astrological sign. Generally gave good advice, and was a decent teacher, but also gave me so much anxiety.

DANNY IS AWESOME! He's the funniest professor I've ever had and is really good at talking (he is an actor so..)! He does assign a lot of work and briefly goes over what to do for the homework because I'm so happy I met this guy!

Passionate and funny guy. Attendance is 40% of grade and random pop quizzes are 40%, if you go every lecture you will pass (calls on random names for questions). Final was easy but very long, all quizzes/exams based on assigned reading but mostly lecture. Lectures are interesting but he will call you out if you fall asleep or are on your phone lol.

Danny is extremely funny; his jokes can be a little harsh but it's all in good fun. Definitely at least spark note every play if you aren't going to read. No midterm just pop quizzes and a final. On the final you must know every character from the assigned plays, random facts from class, and the gist of all the plays.

omg this class is so fun. took it as a GE, and i have pretty little interest in shakespeare but he is so much fun. you have to go to class, attendance is 40% of your grade but i enjoyed going to class. he's super crass and I'm sure offensive to some people but if you have a good sense of humor you'll love him. great class for something fun and easy

Okay, took this class fall quarter and it was awesome, but it was extremely sad and it almost killed me when I saw I managed only a B+ and was like 0.00090238% away from an A-. I hate him for that but he's a great professor--super passionate about theater. Easy class, make sure you don't mess up Romeo's and Juliet's last names make every pop quiz.

Pretty easy class. Just gotta make sure you read the summaries for the plays and you also have to write down all the notes he puts on the board. Final is somewhat hard if you don't really read. He's pretty funny though.

You HAVE to go to this class to even pass. He will pop-quiz you anywhere, and also randomly call out names on the roll-sheet, if you're not there you get an F for the day. I missed one class which had a quiz on that day. If I didn't miss I would have probably gotten an A instead of A-. Final is very basic form and lots of quotes. Famous quotes.

won't tell you when quizzes will be. Look up plays online. Write down EVERY date, name, actor, play, movie, song, quote, + memorize plays and you will get an easy A. His lectures suck he writes so small on board and doesn't emphasize names we need to know. I didn't try very much tho. regret my note taking. he's funny tho

Dr. Scheie is a great lecturer. He is eccentric, emotional, funny and a down right great guy. He expects students to come to class and pay attention. If you do that and do the very limited assignments you'll get an A. Easy. He's super approachable and is there to teach and engage, not to give you mindless busy work. Would take any class with him.

Absolutely one of my favorite professors at UCSC. I never had trouble waking up at 8 am for his class, and it was the only one I looked forward to going to. If you've done a lot of shakespeare before its a fun way to get your TA G.E. out of the way and if you haven't that's fine too. A VERY easy class. Read the plays and go to class and you're set.

Danny is hilarious!! I never missed a lecture, even at 8am. Very easy A as long as you put in the small amount of work that is required. Do as he says and read the plays and go to class, if you do the class is a breeze. Danny makes some strong statements, but always keeps you entertained. There are no sections for the class which is always a plus.

I took this class because all of the great reviews of danny.Don't listen to them! He fails to teach and write clearly on the chalkboard. He expects all of the students to know all of the Shakespeare plays and EVERY random thing he rambles on for the final without a study guide. This was supposed to be my easy A and it's not! RANDOM ATTENDANCE sucks
