Took his online class and found it okay. He's a really nice and sweet guy who is an expert on the subject, but the online lectures can get a little boring. You NEED to watch his lectures to get a good grade on the tests. There is also a map reading test you need to complete at the library.

Comment:

If you work full-time and am working towards a degree, like me this is the on-line course for you. This is the best on-line course I've taken at Cabrillo College so far. Well layed out and not buried under a mountain of study materials. Lectures are entertaining, he's a funny gentleman. Great class, recommend this one.

I love Mr. Balogh. He is the sweetest and most adorable little old man ever. Every class was just a long series of wonderful stories that were actually relevant.

This guy is awesome. He makes every class so much fun and he knows everything about geography. He has tons of stories to tell and they all help you learn. One of my favorite techers of all my years of schooling.

I guess i am a special case, but I loved this little guy. His class is long and usually boring, but he loves to teach it and if you go to class and can pay attention you should have no trouble getting an A. Grade is on a curb and the last test an A was set at 78. Class is not about countries and capitols. You don't have to go to class.He is so nice

Very interesting subjects. If you don't like listening to stories, do not take his classes. Lecture mostly on material not in textbook. READ THE TEXTBOOK! READ ONLINE NOTES! Tests are fairly difficult, but 3x5 cheat sheet is allowed. Nice guy, in general. Geography is more interesting than I expected!

So many stories! The lectures are two hours long for a reason. No power point or anything, just straight talking...for a long time. Being able to watch the lectures online is nice because you can pause and take a break. I had a preconception about what I would be learning about Geo(states, capitals, etc) and it is NOT like that, at all.

Nice guy, interesting stories, knows his subject very well. I expected the class to be easy so I rarely went, crammed before every exam and finished with a 79% (credit/no credit is a GPA savior)

I took this class online. Requires 8GBs of video downloads for lectures and he babbles about a lot of things that don't matter in the lecture. The pretests aren't helpful because the actual tests are EXTREMELY specific. I'm a 4.0 student usually but I don't know how anyone gets an A in this class.

You gotta read the textbook, takes lacture notes & re-read them after class. OR, watch DVD's? This is harder as Balogh is an animated & Great teacher. I learned a lot. It was not easy. He is really nice & LOVES to share (go ask Question's).

What a character! Balogh's lectures are long winded but he is pretty entertaining. I learned a lot in his class and his tests are pretty easy. Interesting guy with more than a few stories up his sleeve. I really enjoyed this class overall.

We (the class) wrote the questions for the test, which where then posted on the internet to read. This made the tests so easy. He is laid back, older professor who just wants to share information. I learned alot of cool stuff and it was nice to just go to class and listen to stories. No stress here.

Cool guy. He knows his stuff. He has lots of experience and lots of stories. If you miss class, you can watch his lecture on dvd. Everything on his tests are in your notes and you can have a 3x5 card.

If I did not have to take this class for a grade,I would love it!However,I need a grade and this class is very tough.He gives so much info that it is very hard to take notes and know what is important!I found out on the 1st test, it is all important!Watch this class on ITunes so you can pause the lecture and take better notes!Good luck!

Very clear; knows his subject inside and out. As long as you do the work, it's impossible not to pass. He grades on a very large curve, so even if you get Bs on the tests (there are 3), you can still get an A in the class. The final's not cumulative, and he allows a 3x5 card of notes for each test. The tests are reasonably difficult, so study.

Not cool, yo! Not cool at all! I went to EVERY class, took extensive notes and got a C! Most of the class also got a C so I don't know what he thinks a "curve" is but he is highly unreasonable! Exams are DIFFICULT....I think he expects you to be a geography genius by the time his class is over.

I was unable to hold any attention to his class, his study guides were no help at all, he uses the same notes from the year 2000, going by the same lecture since then. most of my classmates are not passing. he's a nice guy and willing to help. but it's all strictkly oral with no hw to bring the grade up. and tests are unfair and hard.
