Comment:

He has HIGH expectations for his students. He throws a LOT of information at you and expects you to remember it all. Tests, even though they are multiple choice, are hard and involve a LOT of memorization of species names, etc. He is obsessed with fungi and phylogenies. CLASS average on most tests was around a 68%. Lectures were very interesting

Comment:

Dr. Hibbett is so sweet. I'm not particularly fond of Biology, but he made it almost painless. He was very knowledgable (especially about fungi) and made the second half of BIO 102 fly by.

Extremely nice professor, both in class and outside. He makes his material interesting even though I am not a fungi person. He respects students' views and is willing to get to know his students. A great advisor for bio majors too.

He's extremely nice and pretty funny, he'll definitely answer any of your questions quickly and accurately. I had my first year seminar with him and it was a fun experience, I would love to work with him in the future.

Surprisingly not boring--for a mycologist. He explains everything clearly and goes at a rate that is tolerable. He doesn't answer questions very well during class, but if you email him he'll give you a pretty good answer. The best of the four intro bio professors.

This guy is le awesome. Seriously. I *love* him. He's a breath of refreshing air after the facist torture of Bio 101. He cares about Biology and his students, and he shows it. He's also funny and makes his enthusiasm is totally contagious. Plus, he's just *nice*. Yay Hibbet!

i have an incredible amount of respect for this guy. hes very intelligent, but doesnt make students feel inferior. He has a great sense of humor and always keeps class interesting with his jokes.

He's a really great teacher. He was a joy to have after 101 and I really am enjoying his class. He is funny but not at all annoying in his humor. He obviously enjoys teaching and is always very helpful and very organized! Yup, Hibbet rocks!!!

I attended a couple of Dr. Hibbett's lectures when he was "interviewing" for a faculty position. His lectures were superbly well-organized, concise, and articulate. Professors like Hibbett are rare. Too bad he studies mushrooms for a living.

Comment:

Very interesting, very amusing teacher. Animated during lecture, attempts very enthusiatically to keep students involved without seeming too enthusiatic as to be annoying. Very good grasp of the topics at hand, and presents them in a clear manner.
