He has a passion for teaching but his egocentric desire to humiliate you on call ruins that. If you are genuinely confused at all when called upon he seems to get annoyed and will say "just do your best" rather than clarify a question he asks you in class. He is abrasive, though I do believe he thinks he is preparing you for trial law.

Civ Pro Fall 18. Tough w/ cold calls. Goes in order down the rows. Makes you stand and speak loudly. Doesn't give passes and will press for an answer. Sometimes difficult to follow his lectures - he speaks with antiquated and obscure catch-phrases. He also wants you to recite his rule exactly as he does. VIdeos and PPTs are very helpful.

I found Crump's class miserable. He can be warm and easy to talk to outside of class. He taught a lot of things with catch-phrases, but the phrase I heard the most was: "I know you've got great questions, but I just don't have time." All I needed to know was what the acronyms in his visuals on the overhead projector stood for. I never found out.

Good prof for Civil Procedure. Knows the material cold, and wants to make sure you know it too. As a 1L he gave us an ungraded midterm, and lots of feedback on it. Intimidating at first, but it becomes clear he wants to help you succeed.

Crump can be entertaining with his songs and ventriloquism but overall the key to his classes are his outlines that he gives you at the beginning of the year.

Scary at first, but a sweet guy at heart. Genuine interest in students learning AND liking subject (tho in reality, Civ Pro is painfully dull). Do the reading if you're gonna be called on (and you will know 1-2 days ahead); & STUDY OLD EXAMS before final - many (though def. not all) Qs are nearly identical each year. And SPEAK LOUD/CLEAR IN CLASS!!

Prof. Crump is a decent professor. He is a bit intimidating, especially for 1Ls, but as you go through the semester you learn he's all bluster. Learn his Crumpisms and regurgitate them onto your test and you should be fine. Remember, "it's not rocket science" and "start with the principles" and you should do fine. WATCH THE VIDEOS!

Comment:
Prof. Crump genuinely cares about students and wants them to learn skills useful for practice. His personality can come across as awkward or abrasive sometimes, which intimidates some of the students. The lectures and final are straightforward and predictable.

Terrifying at first, but is actually a very nice guy once you get used to his socratic questioning. Very good job at simplifying Civ Pro into something manageable through skeletal outlines and videos. If anything, make sure you speak loudly when called on!

Evidence Fall 06. Easy class. You don't have to read the book. I agree w others that he is definitely on an ego trip. He doesnt take attendance or go back to call on ppl when they are absent, so if you aren't in the mood for BS just dont show up the day you're in line to be called on.

For all his egocentrism, Prof. Crump is possibly the most predictable professor at the school (read: easiest). He tells you exactly how to write a response for his exams (take his advice) and the questions are fairly predictable too. Just regurgitate some of his favorite stock quotes from class and you are guaranteed a good grade.

He's definitely on an ego trip, and at times he bullies the students and can get confrontational; however I tried to look past that & got a lot out of the class. He knows his stuff cold (he wrote the book). He does seem to intimidate the women more than the guys in class.

Teaches property material like its a CLE course (which is his first teaching love). On the other hand, gives excellent practical advice (even if it is a bit rudimentary) on how to break down the elements of a deal.

Good ol' boy approach to teaching. Very Texan. He wrote the book for the class. Wrote a second book for the class. One covered everything in the other. What a waste of time and $$. Got a decent grade, but I won't be taking another class with this cowboy anytime soon.

A bit of a nut, but a good teacher for male students. I have heard female students are uncomfortable in his class, but that is all 3rd hand.... he enjoys teaching and works hard at it.
