Brilliant, engaging, very respectful of students' views, self-deprecating despite his accomplishments. I strongly recommend him if you want to learn to think critically about constitutional questions. The take-home final was grueling but fair.

I actually never had him for Con Law but he did come to judge my Moot Court and he had the most insightful comments and questions. The man really knows his stuff and he has a very interesting spin on issues.

His class discussions are pretty high level, I found I had to read not just for that day's class but also the chemerinsky to really follow. That said: the man's a genius, if you put in the work you will know the subject better than if you had taken any other professor. He's worth taking if you get the chance.

It's true, he does talk over students when he calls on them. When you get airtime, take the reins and push back when he misrepresents your statement or interrupts you. He'll respect you for it and you'll get more out of class. He'll also let you finish next time. I learned a lot in this class and wish I could take Con Law II with him.

Nice prof who engages students in class discussions. Closed book exam was hard. If you aren't really interested in con law and zone out, you will easily get lost. Luckily, his MIA minutes will get you back on track for the most part. He's also very liberal and opinionated, I can imagine conservatives may not enjoy his take on issues.

Faigman is an excellent professor. His lectures are interesting and interactive. I think he is a difficult professor, but he's fair and helpful. He is a true academic and sometimes forgets that students just want rules and black letter law. But that is the nature of Con Law; it's a hard subject. If you want to learn and be challenged, take him.

Very clear, invites different opinions. Little reading, but take home test so can use Chimerinsky to get the law. If you go to all the classes, he makes it very clear what he expects on the exam.

He is a breath of fresh air after taking Amar for Con Law I-- he engages the students & his test doesn't ask that you reiterate everything he said in class. Even better-- you can get a great grade just by going to class & reading Chemerinsky's supplement & using it for the exam.

He has a lot of interesting, sophisticated things to say, but he doesn't teach much black letter law (everything I needed to know for the exam, I learned from Chemerinsky's hornbook). Plus, he likes the sound of his own voice an AWFUL lot - he often interrupts or talks over students after calling on them.

I like a teacher who is very straight forward and gets to the point. He's a good professor but he likes see what other people think and really expand on that. I think that's great, but for my personal learning style it made the course just more unclear having everyone else's opinion intermingled with his lectures. just be aware he does take home

Faigman is a love him/hate him type of guy, and I loved him. Liberal, but does not present his opinions as facts and does not test on them. You can do very well on his test even if you completely disagree with his politics. MIA minutes are great summaries - use them. Tests are challenging but very fair.

A truly despicable human being. I know this site's policy is "anything libelous will be deleted," but truth is a complete defense to libel. I didn't learn that from Faigman, though. The only things I learned from him were: avoid eye contact and keep your arms crossed over your chest.

Excellent. Will challenge student views and present all sides of an argument. Will kill weak arguments, liberal or conservative. Exams are difficult but fair. One of Hastings' best.

He is extremely passionate about the subject matter. He presents the issues very clearly and provides typed summaries of what is discussed in class. Don't miss the opportunity to take Con Law from him. You will learn the material and enjoy it as well.
