This class was horrible. I attended every day and practiced. He did not clearly assign any hw but expected us to know everything already. When the final came he asked us to play an additional piece he did not notify before hand. Dont ever take his class, he wont give extra office hours to help and even with me attending every day i received an F.

Comment:

Easy class, everything is straight out of the book. Gives study guides before each exam, read them and the book and you will pass the class. There are also tons of chances for extra credit so take them.

Comment:

Make sure you to actually review his study guides and read the book in order to score well on his tests. I scored mostly C's on my tests and an A on my Final. I also went to the extra credit concerts and ended up with an A+ in the class. Attendance isn't mandatory because all he does is lecture out of the book during class.

Comment:

Pretty nice guy. He teaches this class with pride so he sometimes comes off as a stiff, but overall he's very nice and very lenient. As long as you can make it through a 100ish page book, this class is a piece of cake.

I had this class last semester. We had ch. tests-which in this case the book helps a lot. This is a pretty laid back class and attendance isn't necessary, just make sure you know the test dates. He gives out loooooads of e.c. I ended up with an A+ even when I got 2 C's on my tests. For me, the final is actually easier than the ch tests.

Go to class & take notes. Get the text & CDs. Go to all the extra credit (trust me, it'll help in the end). Study for the tests. Sometimes the questions on the tests are kind of ridiculous, but just as long as you know the main ideas, you'll be fine.

Don't be fooled, this class is easy, but you do have to study. There are 3 exams, with final including written & listening portion. You also need to go to 2 concerts & write a report on it. But the bright side is he offers extra credit. Professor Simi is nice, but his class is really boring. Most people hardly show up, so study the book.

His class was easy. Quite boring, if you already know the basics about music. I learned a bit well from the book. Very easy, except for the music reports assigned. If you do want to learn something from the piano, by all means take this class.

I enjoyed his class a lot. Pretty easy just pay attention when he says to take notes for the quizzes. Besides that just practice from the book. I never knew how to play piano and now I am pretty decent best class for the GE and a enjoyable class. Great guy too.

Simis a good guy. He is so passionate about music, unfortunately he doesn't realize his students don't care. He talks about music as if we all understand. His class is SUPER boring. You don't have to go as long as you get the study guides. Some questions on the test are out of no where, but as long as you study the guides you'll be fine. Easy A.

Prof Simi is a sweet old man, but he can go on a long tangent. He tries to keep his students interested but most of us don't pay attention cause the class is boring.. Just make sure you read the book, study guides, vocab terms. The class project was stupid embarrassing to do, don't needa do it cause its 1% of grade unless he changed it the syllabus

This class is SO boring. He gets off topic a lot & if you sit in the back, you can't hear A THING he says. He gives you study guides, but make sure you ask questions on the terms because the terms in the book are SUPER long & hard to memorize. Overall, the tests are really easy (most of the time they're MC unless he changes them). He's nice though!

I didn't really like the material in this class, but Simi does his best to keep people interested. He gives study guides for all his tests and only requires you to write two 3 page papers on some concerts that are mandatory to attend. You can get extra credit if you go to more than 3 of those concerts. Overall, pretty easy class.

Very nice and looks like Mr.Feeney from BoyMeetsWorld. Honestly, no one really cares about the history of music, but Simi does his best to teach a room of uninterested students. Take this guy, guaranteed A if you figure out "the system". Don't need book, just say you don't have it yet the first couple of weeks when he pressures you into buying it.

Comment:

He's authentically passionate about the music (subject), and the tests are dead easy. Previously-mentioned concerts are inconvenient, but not the teacher's fault. The class can unfortuantely be boring regardless of how well it's taught. Nonetheless this is a teacher review: If you need to take this class, I reccomend him. You'll learn something.

I really like this professor and enjoyed his insights into the music world. Music is another language and so it was really a hard subjectd but listen to the types of music and start appreciating a new whole new world.

Comment:

Horrible professor. Agree with the comment below. People are able to pass because they correct their neighbors answers and those who actually studies does bad. Requires you to go to mandatory concerts that is at night which is a problem for those who work. Extremely boring. Listening test was lame as well.
