Dr. Hoeveler cares a great deal about her students. It shows in her willingness to meet one-on-one to discuss research and her honest, pragmatic advice regarding academics. I thoroughly enjoyed her Gothic class. Her breadth of knowledge is incredible and class discussion was an engaging blend of discussion and lecture.

Prof Hoeveler is very friendly, down to earth, and extremely smart. I hate english and I hate writing and I got an AB. The class was 2 papers and 2 exams. The exams were simple and straightforward based on exercises done in class every day. The papers were on novels that were read in class. Definitely recommend.

One of the most practical profs I've ever had. She has high expectations, but she provides plenty of opportunities for students to succeed. Class discussions are open-ended and exploratory, but Hoeveler's knowledge of her field means that they're also always directed. Her comments on writing are insightful and constructive. Highly recommended!

TAKE HER. Take home midterm and final and two papers. Very doable class with not a lot of work or effort required. If you're looking to just fulfill your lit credit make it so that you can take her.

Dr. Hoeveler is a devoted educator and an inspiration for all pursuing an English major. English is my third language and being in Dr. Hoeveler's class reaffirmed my fondness for the subject. Her dedication to the topics is unbelievable. An education I received in the Eng 130 is priceless. Highly recommend.

I had her for The Romantic Period class. Actually I'm in class right now and she doesn't care. Come to class, take notes. You don't have to read every single poem/book, just the ones you plan to write your papers (4 total) on. She knows her stuff and gives you a different perspective on things you've read in high school. Check ur grammar for papers

I had Dr. H for one class and worked with her on a major project. She is very knowledgable and enthusiastic about her field. She is willing to answer any and all questions, and is greatly concerned about the success and welfare of her students. I'm looking forward to working with her again in the future.

Taking a class taught by Dr. Hoeveler is a rare treat. Her her deep interest and love for the Gothic makes the material all the more fascinating, even for one not familiar with psychological criticism. And if a busy day comes when a reading doesn't get finished, she understands and sympathizes. One of the most passionate professors you can have.

I thought that I would love this class but that was not the case. The professor was not enthusiastic and rarely taught the class. Instead she brings other women in to teach it for her. It gets confusing because she doesn't tie it all together for you.
