Prof. Jarc has been my favorite professor with UMUC. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, he also goes out of his way to help students. Amazing professor!

Jarc is one of the better professors I have had at UMUC. The main I like about him is his active participation in discussions. This is rare and it helps to keep discussions "correct" and on-track. Discussions so often miss the mark at UMUC, and Jarc makes a huge difference.

Professor Jarc is a great lecturer. He is quite involved in class discussions and very responsive to student questions. He grades fast and fair and gives good explanations for why points were lost. If I would have the chance, I'd take another class with him.

I took Professor Jarc for discrete math online. He posted a series of lectures that covered the material well. He was responsive to email and thorough with his feedback. I enjoyed the class and look forward to taking more of his classes in the future.

He teaches upper level classes and he does so kind of in a complicated way. There are virtually no examples of how to apply all the theories in the book and the one required for the homework, so have fun googling random stuff. He is very willing to help, so that's nice. He is very strict about how you write code and even dictates method names

Dr. Jarc is a very good teacher. CMSC 330 - Advanced Programming languages is a study about the differences between several languages. There were two major programming projects, one in Java and the other in C++. There were discussions every week and a test 5 out of the 7 weeks. Overall, read the work, and do your discussions on time!

This guy is very knowledgeable in his field. If you don't understand something he will work with you until you do - very patient. He's a tough but fair grader. Will deduct points for the littlest thing but you know not to miss the same thing twice. He is also very quick at responding to questions. Would definitely recommend this professor!

Very smart guy, and his 400 level courses are very hard. Maybe it's the subjects, maybe it's him. Maybe it's both. I don't know. However, he is more than willing to help. Each week he puts up flash presentations with diagrams to help explain the subject. Would be absolutely incredible to have him face-to-face as opposed to on line.

This guy has a harsh grading policy which borders on unfair. The explanations for the grades he gives you are vague. Not a bad instructor, just difficult for an online medium. Unless you feel very secure with your knowledge of programming take with caution. You have been warned.

Be prepared to work. Responsive on-line professor, but often answered with leading questions rather than an explanation. Assignments were gradually revealed on-line and often had multiple parts, which made them harder to do correctly. Grading is hard, but offers extra credit.

A class act. Jarc clearly loves what he is teaching about and goes the extra to mile to make sure everyone understands. His visual tools are great. He doesn't try to hide the why's and how's behind everything - which might confuse people having a hard time.
