Comment:

Though it is not difficult to understand the material if you go to class and take good notes, partial credit is very hard to get even if you do everything correct up until the end of a problem. An example is leaving my answer in integral form at the end as he said this would be an acceptable answer and it was correct, yet 30% was taken off. Study!

Comment:

Duc is one of the most challenging professors I've had at this school. Not because the material taught was difficult, but because he finds a way to make the questions on the test 10x harder than in class examples. Go to him for help? He will probably make you feel stupid and you will walk out feeling more confused. Do not take him if possible.

Pay attention to in class examples, normally they are exactly the same as the tests. There is no reason for getting a bad grade other than not paying attention.

Comment:

This is honestly the best professor I have ever had. He is clear in his lectures. If you show up and participate it is an easy A. He grades a little tough, but if you talk to him and show him where the mistake was made he gives back points. He is energetic and obviously loves teaching.

Comment:

Be prepared to expand on every math class you have ever taken. You will be expected to lean more about every theorem you ever touched on in your math classes. He is a tough grader. You will be given assignments that involve computer programming to solve problems. Over all a good teacher, but be prepared to put in the work for your grade.

His classes will be tough. HW is optional, but will prepare you for the test and gives some extra credit. He has lectures on YouTube, which you should watch before class. This will allow you to earn extra credit when answering questions in class. He is a genuinely entertaining lecturer and I am sad I have no more classes with him.

Worst professor I've ever had! Final is 40% of grade. He'll mark 60 points off for minor mistakes on exams. Doesn't curve. He gives in class examples, but they are confusing. He's rude, and he puts the students down in front of the whole class. If you can take another professor, do it! He doesn't answer questions in class.

He's all around great, not to mention adorable. If you care about he class and your success, he'll take care of you! Dr. Nguyen is solid, and hilarious!

I had to take two classes with Dr. Nguyen and disliked both of them. He babysits students during his lectures, can spend 15 minutes explaining that 2+24. I feel like he could be a great mid school science teacher, but not an engineering university level lecturer. Little material is covered during his class, he's trying to be overly clear.

LOTS OF EXAMPLE PROBLEMS IN CLASS. The problems done in class are the ones that should be focused on the most (i.e. test questions). Very clear and enjoyable at 8am.

The worst professor I've had here. I have straight As, and out of his two classes I have a B+ and a C. He loves teaching Linear algebra, so have a calculator handy that can do matrix operations. NEVER does examples in class, gets lost while doing the few examples he does. Tests are ridiculous. Forgets huge details constantly! Avoid at all cost

He keep promising you to solve numerical examples but he will never solve one. in his test if you make a small mistake -30 out of 40. he is unfair in giving hw. never take his classes. he is the worst teacher i have ever seen.

I don't understand why his ratings are so high. He discourages questions by making students feel useless and should hand out anti-depressants after you visit his office. His lectures are interesting and he does explain things clearly. Make sure you can teach yourself.

Dr Nguyen. He's a funny dude. energetic lectures. He makes sure you know what he wants you to know. Tests are disorienting in format and he grades tough. He'll give you points back if you go back and tell him what you did wrong but only after he yells at you for 15 minutes and makes you feel utterly worthless. Good prof. Enjoyable, grumpy old man.

He's a good teacher. Explains material in class clearly and to the point, but he doesn't cut you any slack on his tests. Only gives you credit if you get the right answer, your work doesn't matter, and takes a ridiculous amount of points off for some of the dumbest things. (like sign errors -30 points!!!!!!)

I have had this professor for 3 different classes: He is an okay teacher, but not the best. His example problems in class are not as thorough as I would like. His tests are 1 question..enough said. 45% of your grade is based on one concept out of many..YOU better KNOW STIFFNESS MATRIX METHOD.
