Comment:
Hecht is a straight forward prof. He really does try his best to make you understand the material and exactly what will be tested on. Focus on the few problems he does in class and DO YOUR PRACTICE PROBLEMS! Partial credit is hard to get, but he's really your only option in the physics department. So, to do well, pay attention to his cues.

Prof Hecht is a very difficult professor. His tests are ridiculous and he doesn't give partial credit. A majority of the class gets in the 50's or even lower on every exam, so he does curve. Its hard to do well. He's an entertaining lecturer. Not easily accessible outside of class. Tough experience with him for the past two semesters.

Just listen to him when he tells you to do problems after his lecture. I didnt listen to him, and i didnt do so well. His test questions comes straight from the txtbook and work book. He talks about history alot. Overall a chill dude. Wanna be like him when im 97

Hes a fun guy and teaches you lots of concepts that you dont really need to know for his tests. His tests are only 4-5 questions and he barely gives partial credit. Hes better than the calc option because thats just a harder class. Buy both the textbook and the shaums book and to to the learning center and do problems with them.

He's not horrible. Absolutely need both textbook and schaums cause he pulls questions straight out of both. You might have to teach yourself most of the material but the books explain everything very well. I'm not good at physics and still got an A in the class. As long as you genuinely try you'll be fine but slack off and you'll fail.

Avoid if possible if you're not a Physics major. I've never spent so much time studying for his tests and and still do poorly on tests. No partial credit and you are basically failing until the end.

Amazing lecturer; wanders out of topics at times; note that you'll have to read the textbook yourself in order to understand and use the materials, he's the type of teacher who carries a 'circle of enlightenment' with him.

Worst professor at Adelphi as well as a terrible person. Doesn't teach well, he should have chosen a different career path and not put students through misery taking his class.

Very easy going guy and super funny! If your not into studying yourself then he's not the professor for you because he gives no work. Just study, the tests are easy but limited to only a few questions. Tests are curved and he'll always help you out. Don't slack like me & you'll be fine:)

Hes good as a person but an ok professor. I took him both semesters. He mostly likes to talk about everything except what hes teaching. There are about 3 to 4 quizzes and he drops the lowest grade.

4 quizzes but he drops one. In one test, there will be 3~4 questions, which means if you screw up on one question your grade will greatly go down. There is one conceptual question usually on the test.

Ehh, well you don't have much of a choice, do you? He's really funny and teaches some things well, but spends a lot of time talking about stuff we don't need to know. Tests are hard, 4 questions, not much partial credit. You really just have to teach yourself. Do all the textbook and Schaum's problems, he uses some textbook questions on the tests.

Worst Professor ever!! Talked about everything except physics! waist of time. Says he thinks how the students do but he really doesn't. Basically 25 questions determine your whole semester grade. DONT TAKE HIM!!!!

Wacky Guy! His test are very short like 4 main Q's and that was a problem for me because I would screw up 2 questions and then an automatic fail. He gives a term paper if your test average is below 40.

Curses like a sailor and it's so funny. Goes off on tangents sometimes. The stuff he teaches you, he teaches well. There is a lot that he expects you to cover because physics is a large course. I probably did well because I came in with a good background in the subject, but don't let that discourage you. Just try hard and pay attention: it works.

Take this course over the summer with another professor. I don't mean to scare anyone, but if you are not completely self-motivated there is a possibility you will not do well in this class. His lectures are not helpful. His textbook and workbook do have useful information, but it is too mixed up with material that he never touches upon in exams.

The guy really knows his stuff but if you don't intend to study on your own then I suggest you do not take him. I think I learned more things in recitation than in his class. He will help you when you go to him. Wish there was another physics professor though...
