Professor Burgos is an excellent Spanish professor. He really knows what he is teaching unlike other professors. I totally recommend him. You will actually learn something new.

Comment:

Professor Burgos was wonderful! One of the sweetest Spanish professors I've had in awhile. Curriculum consists of 6 compositions, two exams(midterm & final) and homework for every chapter. He's very knowledgeable of the material and involved in the class. Make sure you're attentive & attending class b/c he pays attention to that closely!

Grammar in general is hard but this Professor is really nice and helpful and there are lots of extra credit opportunities. However, the second you look like you aren't paying attention he will ask you a question!!

Dont waste your time with this class if u want improve your grammar. U r better off teaching yourself online. Prof Burgos doesnt even use the board, which wud really help when trying to discern/learn different tenses, etc. Hell give extra credit so u wont fail, but u wont learn. Prof is TOTALLY uninterested in teaching.

He's a sweetie and a great prof. He's got quite an accent too. I've never had such an authentic Span prof before so I thought it was pretty useful while learning. I was in a summer class with burgos and each week we had a test every monday, but he posts an example of what each test will be like online.

Comment:

I took Dr. Burgos this summer, and I really enjoyed him. He was very nice and spent a lot of time explaining things we didn't understand. He was lenient on the homework. Since this was the summer session, we did a lot of worksheets and most of the time the exams were from them so it was important to attend class. I would definitely take him again.

Challenging, inspiring; graduate course- he talked non stop for three hours.. could never finish covering the texts we had to read each week; He is passionate about his subject and, if you can stay tuned in you will learn a lot!

This guy was impossible to understand until I had him a second semester, it took that long to get used to his accent. However, its well worth it because he's awesome. I took advanced grammer in the spring session (3 weeks) and he made sure that everything that confused us got cleared up.

Burgos is excellent. I had heard scary things about him being intimidating and whatnot prior to taking the class, but also had heard that he's the best. He is. He is serious, but soft-hearted, and will do anything he can for you if he knows you are trying.

Very kind, helpful, and funny. Always willing to answer questions clearly. Can get a little short sometimes but means well. Taking his advanced grammar sections back to back can get a little tiring but it helps to keep the concepts fresh. He knows his stuff, especially literature. I sat in on one of his graduate lit. classes... fascinating dude.

I took advanced composition from him. He is amazing, the best teacher I have had in my entire life! The clarity in his class was such a relief after some of my other advanced Spanish professors at the UofM.

Wow, I am shocked at how many good comments Burgos has received. Maybe he is a good undergrad prof, I don't know, but grad students usually agree that he is intolerable. he reads his 3 hr lectures off old yellow pages that look 20 years old and reflect 20 year old research. I do have to say though, he is a very nice guy and I like him a lot as a person.

Sr. Burgos started talking at 5:00pm and finished at 8:30; it was all I could do to not jab my pen in my eyes to end the misery. Burgos loves to tell you what he thinks of literature. He will ask for your comments at 8:30PM, by which time most of the class have lost their will to live. Prospective grad. students run away, run, run like the wind!
