I went to his class less than 10 times and received an easy A. 3 tests (one is dropped) and the final. He curves his test to the highest grade. Tests are over the book which YOU NEED TO TEACH TO YOURSELF. The final is over videos in class so get notes from someone who showed up or took his class another semester.

Mr. Svestka is a very nice man, but honestly, he should have retired years ago. It his hard to rate his teaching ability considering he makes students watch 20 year old movies every single day of class besides exam days. When he does actually "teach" he reads directly from news articles that are useless for students to know. Do not take him.

He is honestly the nicest professors i had at Loyola. He allowed us to make up our exams due to other obligations. Understands where the students are coming from. He has 3 tests, only takes the best 2, and then his final. Test are all on the chapter readings, and the final is on all the movies, wall street journal articles.

Oh Svetska, a very nice man but this class is boring. the man shows you very old videos that are not all that boring, but not worth the class. what he will tests you on remains a mystery until the exam is right in front of you. if you want to learn marketing find someone else. the textbook will be your everything.

Worst class ever. If you enjoy watching videos from 1993 and having articles read from the Wall Street Journal, take this class. If you want to learn anything about marketing or just anything at all, steer clear. I'm 3 weeks into the class and I wish I could have dropped this class.

I had no problems with Svestka's class. He keeps the material pretty simple and makes it easy for everyone to relate to. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you go all the time you'll understand everything really easily. No unnecessary projects or hw assignments, he always keeps it simple and is definitely one of the friendliest professors I've had!

Class is not mandatory. All three exams are directly from book and he drops the lowest. Final is essay questions from in class material (videos, hand outs, and discussion)If you skip class make sure you have a friend who will take notes.

These ratings aren't even enough to rank him. He doesn't teach or give out assignments. You teach yourself everything and show up for test days hopefully prepared. He's really nice, but this class is a snorefest. If you actually want to LEARN, don't take him. If you want to just get it over with, take him.

Take him and plan on never going. Nicest old man in the world. Kinda looks like the old guy in the movie UP. He rambles in between rants about starbucks, walmart, and duncan donuts. 3 tests and a final and the first 3 have nothing to do with the lectures. he drops the lowest and curves all of em. lots of movies all of which are 15 yrs old.its badas

Nice old man, but the class is pointless. Takes attendance but doesn't seem to matter. 3 tests (lowest dropped) on book chapters never covered in class, final exam, and a radio ad project. Lots of movies, class ends early often, and he is unable to control the class, so everyone chats and screws around. Nice guy, but its time to retire.

3 tests, each test covers 6 long chapters of information from the book which the professor does NOT cover in class (thank god he drops a test and curves a lil). Overall he teaches nothing that I don't already know. I wish I would have dropped this course sooner since I changed my major and no longer need it.

This class is a waste of time and tuition money, AVOID at all costs! Material taught in the course is VERY outdated (I would say from the mid-80s) and you basically teach yourself the basics of marketing. Sweet old man but he is a great example of why our school needs younger professionals teaching our courses.

I took for 201 & due to wanting to graduate on time had to again for 373. If you want to learn ANYTHING don't take him, if you want an EASY class go for it. He's the sweetest man but I feel like I'm wasting my money & education in his class. 3 exams from the book final is from lectures for the entire semester, take down whatever he writes & videos

Every day you come to class, you'll ask yourself why you even bother. His handwriting is literally impossible to read, so you'll have to pay attention. The hang-up there is that there isn't a ton of content worth recording. Pay attention to the WSJ articles and the videos. He tests you on the content instead of most marketing-related thought.

In a school filled with people that want to talk about huge business, Sveska is there to remind students that the tiny details are what matter. He has a passion for observing the logic behind subtle changes that are made in every day products/services. He has great lectures and a massive video collection. And yeah, he's a cute old man.
