Dr. George Handy made Organic 2 a breeze. He explained it to me in a way that was logical and easy to understand. I had to study, but he made it fair. Great professor and a great person.

Dr. Handy is very nice and funny. He really cares about students. He teaches from his own handwritten notes which he posts on Blackboard. There are Take home quizzes with the answers in the notes, and attendance quizzes. If you understand the quizzes, you can do the test.

Took the class in the summer so it was really condensed and orgo 2 is going to be hard no matter what. H is so smart yet a terrible teacher, but gives plenty of disorganized notes that you can teach yourself from. Examples given in class often on exams. Extra credit and quizzes are helpful. Definitely passable, definitely not fun.

Comment:
Dr. Handy is a great professor if you want an easy A in organic chemistry. He doesn't give homework and there is extra credit on every test, which are exactly like his practice tests. Thankfully, the textbook is not required since he has already created a condensed version and put it on blackboard, even if it is a little disorganized.

I had him my first semester as a transfer student, he made me want to drop out immediately. I tried going to office hours, he walked past me like I was a ghost. If your goal is to go to medical school, however, he'd be kinda up your alley if you can get him to talk. But I would just take someone else and I mean ANYBODY else.

Whoever said anything good about Handy is psycho. I loved organic chemistry until now. Handy is so clueless and I really don't think he knows anything about the subject himself. He has been teaching 25 years but my professor last semester who taught for the very first time was much better. Literally do anything to avoid taking him. Worst prof ever

Dr. Handy is a very respected guy and super smart. Organic Chemistry is hard no matter who you have. He is funny in class and gives tons of practice that end up on the exam. Quizzes almost every class so it forces you to study ahead of time. Amazing TAs! His class also correlates well with the lab and lab quizzes so it helps with that to.

Overall, Dr. Handy's teaching is somewhat interesting, and you'll generally learn what he teaches. He also provides plenty of materials. They aren't organized very well. Unfortunately, it is impossible to talk to him in person outside of class, and his tests are full of errors. However, his TA's can help. A lot of quizzes at first, later not many.

Comment:
Dr. Handy's lectures are straightforward, and to the point. If you really make an effort in his class, you will make an A. That includes following his notes, in-class problems (which often end up on the tests), attending lectures, and visiting his office hours for extra help. When it comes to organic chemistry, you get out what you put into it.

Dr. Handy actually really cares about his students. His class is difficult as his teaching is limited and you end up just learning on your own. If you work hard, An A is doable. Talk to him in office hours.

Handy's the worst professor I've ever had. His lectures are completely disorganized, leaving you more confused than you were before, and it's never clear what the tests or quizzes will be on. He also makes you print about 150 pages of notes for each unit, which are just as scattered and disorganized as his lectures. Overall, HIGHLY don't recommend.

Handy's teaching is decent. He provides a textbook of notes for you to print, but he and his notes are very disorganized. If you Memorize his worksheets, the tests are easy. He is rarely available outside of class, but he has a lot of undergrad TA's who have their own office hours. TA quality can vary. Always check your exams for grading errors.

Handy was an okay professor. Get ready to go through at least a ream of paper, because you have to print out a ton of notes. He gives out worksheets and homework that look exactly like the exam. Some questions are even the same. I had to study A LOT out of class because he goes through the notes fast during lecture.

If you want to be in class where even the TAs think he's an awful professor, you should add this class. Be prepared to print out a 3-inch binder worth of notes and never having any topic thoroughly explained. There will be a lot of self- teaching and condescending answers to your questions. This class is even worse in the summer. DON'T TAKE THIS!

I thought Handy was a really funny guy, and he doesn't make his exams any more difficult than the practice worksheets. Be prepared to print all of your notes for this class. I didn't care for the classroom environment, he was condescending and it's borderline impossible to speak with him personally.

I am going to give you the true and honest rundown of Dr. Handy. Unless you are one of the handful of students who he chooses as his class pets during the semester, you may find this class very difficult. I did however make a good grade in this class but ONLY because of the amazing TA's he has. This man is very dismissive of his non-student pets

Dr. Handy is a solid choice for Orgo II. If you go to class and do his take home quizzes and study hard you will be just fine. Half of his exams comprise of problems he has either shown you in class or has given on a quiz. Not to say this class isn't hard, but if you work for an A you can get an A.

Your stereotypical professor who thinks he is god, even though he sucks at doing his job. His TAs are amazing and they do all the work so if you have any questions just go straight to your TA. His exams are straight from all the worksheets, assignments, and take home quizzes so do those multiple times before every exam and you'll be fine.
