Susannah is the best professor I've had. Besides giving very engaging lectures, she provides fantastic feedback and is great in office hours. She really cares about her students and is clearly passionate about history. Perhaps my favorite person at Carleton!

she's THE favorite professor of mine at Carleton. i'm very glad to have had this amazingly smart, arduous, strict yet friendly and mom-like adviser to guide my comps (thesis). definitely worth taking her classes. you will learn a lot, not only in history, but in ways to think, to write, and to live.

As a non-history major, I was not crazy about the class. There was too much reading and not enough in-depth discussion. I feel I didn't learn enough factual information about the period. I would have liked more lecture from Susannah, and more directed discussion of our readings.
