Gerry Hecht thinks he's way cool. He's a fave with conservatory students that need and easy A. I appreaciate the effort but in the end I wish I had learned something from the two classes I took from him. culture and society in the west and american history or something like that.

really done to earth, very helpful, he was intimidating the first class, but once u get to know him, he's really easy to talk to, great conversationalist, and a great teacher overall, i wish i was taking more classes with him. he makes lectures interesting, and fun, which wont put to sleep which is a HUGE PLUS in my book.

A Cool Dude. Solfege is a spooky ghost but he helps you not be scared. You'll learn more if you push yourself, though; he can help you but he can't make you want to try. Some practice with a piano, or a few private sessions with Gerry, and you will be able to sing like a wild beast. Then the class becomes fun and not fear.

Gerry Hecht is out of his mind. Anyone who's ever had him knows that he sings opera at the most random moments, has a glorious sense of humor, and assigns work that is straight forward and to the point. He avoids the concept of "busy work," which is nice to see. He's a friend more than a professor.
