Oh man, he is a nice guy and probably a good archeologist, but his tests are just dumb. Archeology is not even hard, his tests are worded poorly and have weird questions on them. It's frustrating to get a B in what should be an easy A.

WORST. CLASS. EVER. Seriously. Currently doing his stupid term paper, ON TOP OF studying for his final, I am extremely close to reporting him to the dean for assigning homework and discussion boards year long, on top of test, a few papers, a cumulative final, and final term paper. HE IS A HORRIBLE TEACHER. Take him if you want to die.

Dr. Doran was completely impossible to understand. His lectures were unorganized and his emails, which contained information pertinent to tests, were written in all caps which made them much much harder to understand than one would think. I literally had no idea that there were any homework assignments until the last week of classes. Avoid.

His tests are impossible because he doesn't utilize anything from the text everything comes from scattered emails he sends, you are basically left to guess on everything. Avoid this class at all costs if you want an A

Dr. Doran tends to go off on unrelevant rants. Even the best of students will fall asleep in his class. However, you must fight this sleep, because everything and anything even slightly mentioned will be on the test! He cancelled class several times to do research, but he emails several times daily with assignments. Avoid if possible

Doran was an awesome guy, very passionate about the subject. However, class is cancelled at least 3 days per month and there is no use in reading the textbook. All of the "tests" (basically a jumble of facts and yes/no questions) are extremely unorganizaed and reading the book will NOT help you at all. Take my word for it.

He knows the subject really well, but the tests are extremely difficult. I would not recommend taking this class if you have no general knowledge of this subject or don't want to study countless hours and go to class and barely be able to pass.

Doran is a nice professor, but his tests SUCK. He may lecture about bones, but his test will be about pottery. It is IMPOSSIBLE to do well on his exams unless you are psychic or have prior knowledge. He sets you up for failure. His intro to archaeology class is the only B i've gotten and I consider myself lucky to have done so well.

Worst teacher ever. All he did was talk about himself and his tests were ridiculous. The stuff he told you to study (if you even told you) were never on the exams. Do not take his class!

Doran is super nice and has a great sense of humor. His lectures were always fun. His teaching style, however, wasn't great. His tests were confusing and poorly written. I took good notes, studied hard, and really thought I knew the material, but I never did as well as thought I should. He's great, but if you want an A, I don't recommend him.

HORRIBLE! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! He does NOT know how to teach at ALL. Everyone I knew in that class was struggling to survive. I ended up with a VERY low C even with studying my life away. I tried contacting him on what to do to help get my grades up and he was USELESS! DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!

He is a very nice guy and funny. The only reason I would not recommend him is that he does not know how to make an exam. I learned a lot and had fun with it. He does try to give extra credit when he thinks of it and he curves.

Really nice, funny, amiable professor - absolutely impossible, incomprehensible tests, though. There really isn't any rhyme or reason to his questions, and you don't use the book all that often. I personally wouldn't recommend him.

Avoid him! He doesn't give a clue about what's on the tests. Never reviews anything. Our review for our final was him talking about useless trivia leaving us to guess what was on it. I knew the info perfectly and went to class and still could not get an A on a single test because the questions are asked unclearly and they don't make any sense.

Yeah...i howuldn't recommend this class to anyone--unless you're an anthropolgy major. I went into his class so eagered to learn the information, it really interested me...I studied all the time...all the time, and i just managed to make a "C". If you do poorly don't feel bad, there are very few people who get over a C-. Better say your prayers:(
