This professor DOES NOT reply to emails nor take ANY late work. I probably would have learned more from the 3 textbooks she wanted us to get. Anyone who questions or challenges her "lectures" will never hear the end of it. She ends up giving life lesson lectures and treats 1st-year students like they are illiterate morons who just "text" 24/7.

I took her class thinking that i would learn a lot from a teacher whose said to have a lot and it is a nightmare. She does not like to be asked question about an assignment and will always expect for you to know what she thinks. She avery confusing in the way she teaches, she doesnt give much details and she will not care even if you seem to care.

she is a bad teacher. you learn nothing in her class. when you ask something the way she talks back is rude and it comes off as if you dont do the work the way she does you wont pass period. she doesnt accept late work so dont even try to send her an email she wont even read it. dont recommend her.

Comment:

I took Professor Horton for Children's Literature and it was my first class at PCC. She was very understanding and caring towards me and was really helpful even after the class ended. However, it is vital that you buy the textbooks, as she is a tough grader and expects you to do your part.

This is a tough class. Don't have many homework but grade is unclear. Don't open a canvas online so it is hard to check how are you doing in class. However, you will learn a lot from her. Recommend her if u want to be prepared for 001A.

Engl59 Children's Lit. Changed schedule/syllubus of assignments more than three times. Lecture a lot but some ideas differ from textbook. Textbook gives information and teaches students but professor discusses and opionated differently. Kind but strict. Fair but poor leading. Do not recommend Russel's text. The reason i choose her class was because that is the only class left at the time i choosing . She may be very knowledgable but you can't learn anything from her .She teach nothing at all. I think the people who can pass her class are those already have the ability to pass at the first place . You can't improve your english by taking her class

I got good grade, but I don't like her lecture. Teaching grammar is not clear. She uses a short story book and discussion the story a lot. The discussion doesn't connect with grammar nor writing. It is just chatting. Participation is a must. You have to study yourself. I don't recommend her.

No lectures. Need to finish the homework on time, if not you will be in trouble. Tests are Inclass writing. Requires 1 research paper before final. Final is inclass essay also. Tough grader. You'll feel under the pressure from the 1st day. But I like the way she teaches the process of research paper. She's helpful when asking for help

I loved her! We had to read many different stories and she never lectures, we sit and have a discussion. Very interesting, fun, inspirational.. You will have a few essays to write but she very clearly outlines what she expects from you. Participation is a must. Overall this class is very interesting and she's awesome

With all my respect to her as a professor, she confuses you or deliberately plays word games with students. Her problem is that she doesn't know how to deliver the material smoothly no mater how hard it is specially in the ESL department where bilingual students have different mentalities towards English! you'll waste your time not recommended.

I really liked this class. But you have to put in work. If you are naturally an introvert and really shy, you might want another teacher. She puts a lot of emphasis on class participation. She wants to know you are actually involved and learning. If you want an easy A, this isn't the class for you. If you want a rewarding A, then this is it.

Drops you after three missed classes, grades papers harshly, you need to participate in discussions. Not helpful at all when it comes to revising you're paper.
