The exams were sent to a random prof (not our TA); we were informed of this after already completing the midterm and didn't get our grades back until past the drop date. Majority of the class received a failing grade, which must say something about the way it was taught. It took us reporting this to the chair to have a new grader. She should grade.

Dr. Decker cares about what she teaches but she grades pretty harshly on her written exams. The class is based around a final paper and two written exams, pay attention in class and if you can't read all the books and articles that's ok, just make sure you are really well-read on anything you do read as exams give you a choice of what to talk about

Dr. Decker is a very intelligent woman. She knows her material. That being said, her tests were like you would see at a graduate level. VERY in depth and very difficult to comprehend. She is very fair and will work with you if you ask for it. Her lectures are kind of all over the place but if you take notes you will learn a lot. A LOT. Good Class.

Be prepared to study A LOT for this course. I'll admit, I'm a total slacker but I do pretty well in my classes. If you're like me and think that'll work with this course, don't even risk it. While Prof. Decker is very knowledgeable and amicable, she is very unclear in whats she expects on the exams and is a very tough grader.

Senior year History major here. Don't take this class. Find someone else. Rambling lectures. Poorly written exams. Harsh grading for satisfactory answers. BUT MOST OF ALL: This class may as well be called "Germany History since 1500_____and the French Revolution." She's so nice, open minded, and inviting, but almost outdated.

Loved the class. If you are into history than relax and enjoy all the stories because you are in for a treat. I truly enjoyed the class and if you take it I feel you will too. She gives you all the tools you will need to make a high grade you just have to do as she asks. loved the history and the psychology of it all.

If you show up take some notes and do the reading you will be fine. She repeats herself a lot and she loves to hear what the class thinks. I found the class interesting and she likes to come at history from a psychological aspect which was cool. Not the easiest or the hardest.

Very hard to understand in class. Your test must be really extremely detailed to get a good grade, much more then she states in class. MUST READ TEXTBOOK. I got a B+ but I studied like crazy for this class.

Germany after 1918. Dr. Decker is very intelligent and nice. She might be dry but I love her classes. reading is great. emphasizes the idea of learning rather than testing (which I respect). It might take some work but I would recommend taking her.

Good Proff. Good books. Tests are essay (its def a writing class) but are pretty managable. she is picky on what you talk about about so BE SPECIFIC!! Specialty is in German History so she really gets hyped up for German Unification and 30 yrs war. other special on freud/psychoanalysis (Im not too keen on it). Over all great proff. will take again!

She's not very clear on what she wants. makes you read a lot, even more than the capstone course for History. When i rewrote my notes, i had to cut them up and reorganize them because the topics mix all the time. the textbooks are to be taken with biblical importance. all in all, bleh. rather not again. final grade B

She's not that difficult if you come to class and read part of what she assigns. She gives good books to read. Reviewing for the test is a little iffy though. I made a B and liked parts of every lecture. Overall, it wasn't too bad.

Her tests aren't that hard if you do the readings and take notes. This is upper level history, it isn't supposed to be easy. You should only avoid her classes if you don't have an interest in history. If you take her class you should enjoy her near omniscience when it comes to Freud and Europe.

Goes off topic a lot. No REVIEWS!!! Have to know everything discussed, as you will not know what will be on her tests. Tests are ID and Essay-requires ID's to be at least a page long-also have to know everything about topic of essay. Beware!!

If you like history she's interesting but she rambles on. The tests consist of ID's and essay, and there are no review sheets. You have to know everything b/c you don't know what's going to be on the test.
