Two essays: one was based on two short readings; the 2nd was a 5- 7 page research paper of your choice. In addition, there were two non-cumulative, free-response, exams. She's a fair grader. Readings are a lot and are required. Lectures were great, she even gives out outlines so you can study for the exam.

Comment:

Took her for East Asian Women's Hist/Cross Cult Perspectives and I loved the course content, HEAVY reading for sure. Had to buy 8 books for the class, not including texts she uploaded onto Blackboard. She comes off as super strict, but seems to be a pretty easy grader. 2 assignments. She really cares about what she teaches. I would take her again.

Comment:

She loves what she teaches and is very enthusiastic. Make sure you attend class, it counts and a lot on the exam is based on lecture (but readings as well) I wish she would do away with group discussions and have class discussions instead but that's my only complaint. She's one of the best professors I've ever had.

Comment:

Professor Cong is a great professor who really cares about what she teaches. Sometimes she is difficult to understand, but she has no problem explaining topics in detail. The class is easy as long as you do the readings. I took this course and her Chinese History course and both were great.

this site having a 'hotness' rating is completely ridiculous and unrelated to actual academic rating. shes a great teacher. its hard, but definitely worth the work. she will help you and try to get you to pass if you put in the work. dont be intimidated, she is extremely nice and understanding!

Really nice professor. I enjoyed her class a lot. You have to do the work and study! She won't give you the grade, you earn it. If you put effort into it, you can do well! I would definitely recommend her. And her English is good, I could understand her easily.

her english is BAD real bad. it makes it kind of hard to understand, and she is so boring history is not the funnest material but man she puts you to sleep. if you read and pay attention you should be ok. i regret taking her she is just a bore to sit through

Great professor! I will admit her class was a bit tougher than I expected, although in the end I still made an A. Don't be scared away by her beginning of the semester warnings! She is strict about attendance, but is incredibly helpful and prompt. Show up, read, and always state the intent of your essay in the introduction and you will be fine!

A fantastic professor. Her classes are hard but she will bend over backward to help you succeed as long as you are willing to work. Not for slackers but if you are really interested in the material, there is none better.
