Excellent prof. He has very very good notes and relevant practice questions to refer to. Good thing is that we don't need to buy a text. Class is rather boring, but he does put in quite a bit of effort to make it interesting. His clarity in explaining concepts makes class worth going for. Fair exams and marking scheme.

He's extremely helpful and kind to students. The course itself isn't too interesting and Hernan is aware of that. He tries to make classes interesting.

Good prof. Material for the course is straight forward. His exams are very fair and he marks fair. Nice guy, explains everything in detail and will answer any questions or clear up any ambiguities. Recommend this prof for the course and also recommend the course as an elective (pretty easy and some important finance basics)

Avoid this professor at all costs! Changed course this term, but did not post new practice mt questions. Extremely boring, spends hours telling stupid stories to explain common sense logic, uses the most incomprehensible way to teach simple formulas. Exam questions 100 times harder than what was taught inclass.

Although this is a required course, but the course itself appears to just bundle together all of 293, 374 and 397. Really, that sums up the course. His marking can be unreasonable. His notes are OK but he doesn't seem THAT enthusiastic about teaching students. As well, his style of lecture delivery could make you fall asleep in class.

Great guy. You can tell he is not detached from reality like some other profs. Course material can be sometimes dull but nonetheless is fundamental knowledge any finance major should know. Hernan makes the material much better than it other wise would be. Solid notes and fair exams.

Great professor. Again, the course itself is required for Finance Majors and it isn't the most interesting to be honest. Hernan does a good job explaining things. Office is always open for students if he's in there. Goes out of his way to help students. Really cares. Thanks alot for the help!

Office hours are great. He will never turn you away. He can be unclear, but relative to most of the other finance professors, it is not that bad. If you do your readings, the lectures are very easy to understand.

His lectures were boring and sometimes i couldn't understand what he was saying because he had an accent. However, he tries to help people outside of the class, since he had 6 hours of office hourse a week! 3 times more than the norm.
