Comment:
Professor Cherry is a good professor, and the negative ratings are from people who did not do well in the course. He isn't a hard professor; 231 just happens to entail difficult subject matter. Physiology is a branch of biology, so it makes sense that the class requires a lot of studying. If you put the time in, you will do well.

Comment:
Dr. Cherry's lecturing voice is a little monotone so it can be hard to stay focused during class but try your best to because the tests are only based on lectures. He drops your lowest exam score which is nice and he is always available after class to answer questions. Make sure to come to class because attendance is taken for section and lecture

Prof. Cherry is an underrated professor (perhaps because he has a very monotone, low voice, and is not as gesticulate and animated as some professors during lecture). But the content of his lectures and of his classes (I've taken multiple) is fascinating, and he is incredibly knowledgable and helpful - try asking him to explain concepts further!

Lectures are kinda monotone and long, but he seems like a nice guy. The class itself covers a lot of material but as long as you attend class its totally manageable. Grade is based on 2 midterms and a non-cumulative final. Very light workload. No need for textbook. Overall, boring but informative. Relatively easy A.

Comment:
The beginning of the course is super concentrated in biology (like action potentials, receptor types, etc). As the course goes on, there are more case studies and it gets more interesting. The lecture notes are super helpful. For the tests, read the notes and make sure you know any charts or diagrams from the power points. Easy A for me

I took this class over the summer. It was the most interesting class I have ever taken. I have no idea what these other people are talking about when they say he is boring. Maybe he is just better at teaching to a small summer class rather than 100+ students in a lecture? No textbook was used and attendance was mandatory bc it was a summer class

Professor Cherry did not care for this class at all. He made an interesting subject dry and painful to attempt to learn. Every class started with a quiz and then we worked in groups on online questions about the textbook material. The textbook was the only way to learn material for exams which were very specific and difficult to do well on.

Comment:
Prof. Cherry showed no passion for the subject (drugs + behavior). Each class began with a quiz and then the rest of the class included useless group work/convo. Tests are impossible to do well on and lectures (if you can call it that) were horrible. You do learn a lot... but that's only because of the huge amount of required textbook reading.

Lectures can be complex, there's no doubt about that. Professor Cherry is pretty-cool if you drop-by his office. Whoever is interested in taking this class has to be determined to devote a lot of time to it. Tests are hard, but if you do ALL the readings, attend all the lectures, ask him questions, and study hard, you'll do fine.

All those people are whiny psych majors, don't listen to them. I LOVED this class and it was actually pretty easy if you've ever taken a real bio course before. Everything you need to know was in lecture notes. Cherry's actually a nice guy too and I never thought the classes were boring. I love this class, and highly recommend it!

Cherry somehow makes an interesting subject really boring. Don't waste time with the book - memorize every detail of his notes to do well, especially obscure brain structures and pathways. Attendence taken at every lecture. Quizzes every week. Presentations in discussion. Tests are a mix of short answer, multiple choice, and fill in the blank.

Weekly quizzes, MUST attend lecture, MUST read the textbook in extreme detail to do well on exams. Very Very Very boring lecture. I would suggest taking this course with someone else although I have heard that all the PS231 professors are bad. Try and take another class in the A section if you are a psych major if you want the easy way out.

Worst professsor/instructor of my life. Painfully boring lecture and book. Attendance mandatory. Lectures are pointless. Extremely boring. I now hate physiological Psych thanks to this course. Weekly quizzes. Difficult material (to me, anyway). Prior knowledge of Bio essential for a decent grade. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!

Horrible horrible class. Clearly Professor Cherry doesn't care about this class. Papers that were needed to study for the final were never returned. He was shocked when asked to explain what would be on the final. Totally disorganized and doesnt explain big topics. I really learned nothing about psychology from this class.

DO NOT TAKE A COURSE WITH CHERRY. The class covers a lot of material and will require a lot of memorization. Tests are unreasonable and a lot of people fail. If you want to try your luck, go ahead, but don't expect an A.

This class is interesting, but Cherry is really boring. Attendence counts towards your grade, so go to lecture. Memorize his notes and you will be fine for tests. If you are not a bio major or haven't taken bio recently, don't take this class. It is all biology.

The subject matter is really interesting, but Cherry is boring at times. The lecture notes are online and to do well you have to memorize every little part of it. Test are very hard and very specific, but he will curve if the avg is low and a 71 is a B- and an 86 is an A-.

Can be disorganized sometimes, and when lecturing he can get off-topic and lose track. He posts online notes tho, which is all you need, and to memorize lots. Overall, he teaches the subject pretty well, though tests can be pretty hard.
